AUTUMN WINDS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
let the crisp autumn winds blow~
clouds pirouette in a rainbow sky.
Iridescent Birds-of-Paradise
do their extravagant mating dance.
Wondrous spectacle before my eyes
as they pirouette and prance.
Belle E. Danser tried some ballet
But Double D's got in the way
No one could forget
How her pirouette
Simply floored Maurice Chevalier!
Aren't you comforted
By the amazing thought
That elephants can't fly
When drops of birdshit fall
Splattering the windshield of your car?
dazzling pirouette
hair in a perfect bun
dainty steps on tiippy toes
rhinestone ballerina
bringing magic to the stage
inspiring little dancers
the ballroom dancers
pirouette like tornado
divinely waltzing
wet, heavy blossoms
curtsey low to the drenched earth,
crying tears of rain
warm, sun-kissed petals
pirouette into gold light,
arched to the summer sky
When all in calm and no soul is awake,
In the deepest recesses of my heart,
I dream of your waves and curves;
Like an enchanted ballerina in a triple pirouette
I love how you dance
Pirouette across my page
Delicately take my hand
Glide into my soul
Gravity cannot hold you
Neither can this paper heart
the copper ballerina
sings in charmed circle spins
Charmed circle is one marked by exclusiveness
Fluorescent signs shout
"Liquor" and "***,"
cardboard boxes
hold the land hostage,
pushers and prostitutes
pirouette
with survival
their only choreographer.
Pirouette and practice daily sheer perfection to achieve.
Ballerina, dance through pain, success does not come without effort.
With the spot light shining down, your payment is the wild applause
Dance
snowflakes
dance
from your
icy home
above.
Each
twirl, each
swirl, ballet
perfect as you
pirouette
your way
down
to the
frozen ground,
where you
take
your last
bow.
Unmindful time sneaks past
the stage of perfect life.
Quick as dreams take their place
nostalgia clings tight.
Embrace fun,
run the course,
laugh a ton.
None fathom
when it's done.
Tatiana
Lush crimson lips
Eyes sapphire blue
Voluminous blond curls
Exuding exotic perfume
Her silken gown swaying
In a sensuous pirouette
The gazelle avoiding
Her predator
AP: Honorable Mention 2020
Tucked away glinting thoughts
like seeds beneath the bark
of half-remembered dreams
that echo autumn’s needs
tend to duck.
Pluck them out
under muck
stuck well fast—
they bring luck.
ACORNS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
acorns,
tiny dancers in brown shoes,
pirouette on currents of September’s cool air,
twirling with the falling leaves,
a ballet of earth tones,
a silent, rustling symphony.
as day slips into even
and sun draped winds
now evoke a midnight glove
where kissed dew
turns pirouette
on rosened cheek
air is took and chosen
Universal pinpricks
seem to lead the way
nigh time sifts
in shadows greys
Premiere of Persimmon Pureblood
Pennsylvania’s premiere debutante
prettier than a Parisian parasol
persnickety and powdery
poufy, perfumed, perfectly petite
Persimmon practiced her pirouette
pleats parading petals in a perfect circle
brilliant
sunlight rays
nudge
and pirouette
through
sailing clouds
amid
wintry wind
hair blows
artistic swirls
tickling
sudden sneeze

I saw her do a little snowflake pirouette
before a snowflake down of falling wet
her snowflake glitter shone
as my snowflake heart beat on
a snowflake origami shimmering, aiguillette

The Women Dance
The women dance they move the hand twere a man twould look so gay they
bend and stretch they sway
they pirouette they even split while they are young they genuflect
they have some fun they never walk the women dance
--
Clouds flaunt the day’s sunrise and sunset
flooding the sky with a vast sea of flaming passion
As a dramatic array of sun’s long vibrant dress
billows out, pooling at horizon’s wide floor
Birds’ silhouettes dance, sway and pirouette.
Silly ninja squirrel
thinks he can stop the rain
and save his furry hide
from dampened disarray~
now chilly,
Willie boy
still willy-
nilly for
his Tilly!
