The Vital Holy Day

Getting ready for
Passover to shed us might
For joyous future

The significance
Of God’s holiday is way
More vital than us

The feast is now over
The four glasses of wine are gone

From the seders of the past
Springtime brings us such great joy!

Premium Member Matzo

It's unleavened bread served at Passover seders symbolic of haste. Square-shaped and corrugated it looks like a big cracker.

Syria

Syria
They are playing
Politics
With peoples life

Russian Caviar and
American hamburger
Do not blend

Passover and Iran
Break the bread mates.
And restrain yourself.

Premium Member Far, Far Too Much Matzo

      ‘Tis Passover season
         and just for that reason
I buy far, far too much matzo ...

The family budget hangs me for treason
though the merchants I am pleasin’

Premium Member Matzo Might Not Kill Me, But --

Passover ends in two more days
to my shouts of Hip, Hip, Hooray

One more day of matzo might not kill me
but if this be freedom, give me bread ~ and slavery

Passover

Womb
belonged to her

steps crossed the doorstep
found limbs
and forbid them to cry

sterility painted
palm
came close
stopped at skin
she will be safe

there was no one
to
by lambs blood
cover
above door of
the house which used to call home

“FOR whom the bell tolls…?
COVID death toll rises…
Bells can’t be unrung…

                   2.

Passover full moon…
CORONA VIRUS lurking…
Facemasks ape closed doors

                  3.

CORONAVIRUS…
Graphic death curve flattening;
Death toll still rises…

Refresh, Revive, Rejuvenate
  at the Passover Seders
    Festival of Freedom
followed by the peace of the Sabbath

Three days to pause, to tell the story
to delve into its myriad meanings
this year, all within the immediate family unit
with the people who mean the most

Isn'T It Strange

is
it
strange that
Easter is
not even mention
in our bible Yes it is strange

Happy Easter All
  Or Passover

Was reading about true meaning of Easter
and found it strange that our Bible does not
Call this Holy Day Easter They Call it passover
HMMMMMMMM

Premium Member Relaxing, Restful Vacation

To all of you who wished me
  a relaxing, restful vacation
Your wishes carried me through
  a bit of aggravation

A little insomnia here
  A cellulitis attack there
Things were going south
  I swear...

But come the Passover Holiday
The Festive mood saved the day

So, thank you once again
  My wonderful poetic friends

Hosanna

-Another one the songs in my Passover musical, "On Eagles' Wings"-

Yehovah, will You see?
Will You remember me?
When will you hear my desperate cry?

Yehovah, now I fear
Maybe You will not hear!
But if You don’t then we shall die

And so I cry, “Hosanna, please see and deliver us!”
And so we cry, "Hosanna, please see and deliver us!"

Premium Member The Lighter Side of Antisemitism

For those who want to ‘kill all the Jews’
        Here’s some food for thought

Get a rabbi to extend Passover one more week
You’ll love what will have been wrought

For another week of ‘matzo only’
        Jews’ stomachs will do somersaults

And that way it won’t be antisemitism’s fault
~ that our bowel functions came to a halt

Premium Member Passover Seder's Nadir

      Two full cups of wine
         even before we dine

Two more later, raised in song
        What could go wrong ~
        by midnight’s gong*

Premium Member Four Heroines

~ A Poem for Passover ~

  Four questions
    Four cups of wine
  Four kinds of sons
    Four heroines in line

  Leah, Rachel, Bilha, Zilpa
    Four mothers, twelve sons
  Accompanied Jacob to Pharaoh's land
at the command of the One

God Of Israel, Who yet hears
    four mothers' descendants' pain
and frees them each year from Egypt
to extol His Name once again

  Flatbread matzo served

Wine no longer a Passover staple
Matzos round; no more 'squares' around

  Come midnight weary, most retire

to debate the fine points of the law
    fiery tongues ablaze

Our Ancestors' Prayer

This is the prayers
of our fathers
They've prayed this for us
That we go beyond their success
That we climb their hills
to our mountains
And this we hope for our
offsprings
Even our children's children
When we go beyond and rest
Let this prayers be done
When our bones are weak
and the dust ready for dust
Let it be done
From ages to ages
Like the passover of the jews
It is the creed of our fathers.
