Trees and branches sway.
The power has moved outside.
The house is too still.

A wren chirps sweetly,
defying chaotic winds--
innocent solace...

Young 'uns said he had no soul
Stubborn, he refused to 'go green'

Then a power outage struck
Those greens shed their pluck ~
Came clean, and begged for the King...

Suddenly
we are freed from the burden
of technology.

The universe
reveals itself in a flicker
of golden candlelight.

Mandela, a circle
without beginning, without end.
Can we know ourselves?

Power Outage
Ear splitting silence
Everything stops with a halt
The rattle and hum cease
I lay there
Listening to the blood rushing through my ears and veins
I live on the edge of a farm field
Pitch black
No wind to blow
Without the din
How am I to sleep...

Premium Member Disaster Cannot Break Our Bond
Disaster cannot separate us or break our bond
Send us a tornado or a power outage
Send us a heat wave and no water
We will reassure and uplift our son and daughter
We are all exceedingly tight
Loving each other throughout the night
Assuring each other we are all right
Disaster cannot separate us or break our bond...

More Snow
Winter snow surrounds me again
It reminds me of solitude
The snowy white icy field
The wind is blowing strong
The power outage continues on

When will it stop
I hate this snow
I hate anything white
Let it be green

I will survive
Wait for spring
I'll be happy

When sunshine
shows through

Warmth...

Toilet Paper Outage 2020
OMG people
Where’s the toilet paper
This shortage were having
Is major
People going nuts
Shopping like mad
It’s all so sad
Think of others
your leaving without
What are they to do?
While sitting on the loo
Doing a poo.
Come on guys
You’re in a frenzy
Time to go
Steady.
Shops will continue to buy product
So, there’s no need
For misconduct...

Blackout
Blackout

I sit in a blackout
What can I do
Wind is a howling
The rain's angry too

Windowsills rattle
High up on my floor
I live on the seventh
And hear every roar

I'm starting to find
A still quietness
Mixed with a thunder
Of solitudeness

I sit in a blackout
What will I do
I'll sit here and bask
In my gratitude

                  rattles the dish cupboard...
                  I fetch the candles

                  lightning flashes
chasing the cat from the room...

A Cold Stormy Winter's Night
It is a cold stormy winter’s night.
And the power has gone out once again!
I light my candles and throw a log on my fire,
The bright embers burning a rich amber as they spark.
I turn up the volume of Paul Simon at Hyde Park.
Thank god for my Spotify downloads!
I take a sip of my red Malbec,
And dance up a storm to the lively music,
Bringing a smile to my face as I catch my breath....

Do Not Tease the Animals
Do Not Tease the Animals

By Elton Camp

The game preserve had a warning sign
Leave the animals alone or there’s a fine

But no matter what the place may say
There are always a few who don’t obey

Robert thought to poke the hippo a blast
Not knowing it could run extremely fast

In outage the huge beast did react
And poor Robert it began to attack

The sign’s wisdom he came to see
As in terror he proceeded to flee...

Power Outage Haibun
When it’s dark, and you’re cold. When the wind howls at the windows, and rain pounds on the roof. When you’ve got no electricity. When you’ve only a few pennies in your wallet, not enough fuel in the car, and it looks as though the blackout will go on for another day or two. Well, then is no time to be read’n a book called…

ESCAPE OF SNOW Snow shivers on heavy branches. Lyrics of snowbirds awakens awe. Bent back of pines — tortuous cane. Wheelbarrow weighted down with snow. ~ After storm comes avalanches, Power outage and blackbird caw. Powder keg of snow from yonder pane. Eyes mesmerized ~ life travels slow. ~ For Winter, I hold… no disdain. This reprieve: there’s no grass to mow. 12/9/2017 Rimas Dissolutas Form

Virgil the Vegan Eats Out
Virgil the Vegan Eats Out

By Elton Camp

When to a café Virgil did go
Any type meat was a no-no

Even milk he would eschew
Cheese and butter were too

“My meals I require to be
Totally made cruelty-free.”

Although Virgil never knew
That veggies have feelings too

Beans scream when he comes near
Tomatoes and squash also fear

One chef got orders mixed up
In an outage, Virgil did gulp

He yelled, in a voice firm and clear
“Get that flesh away from here!”...

When Winters ice determines
The day's destiny
We learn our dependency
On the technologies, we cannot
Live without
What if
	Scares us
What if
	Forces us
To live a day without
	An iPhone
Or internet
What if
	We find ourselves
In the dark
And the winter clouds
Shrouding the day
	As if today might
never end

What if
	This is the way
You have to live
The rest of your lives
Lost in a power outage...
