Pumpkin party was in full swing
the ghosts and ghouls began to sing
they sang off key
it tickled me
as I danced ‘round the witches’ ring.

I once knew a songster from Skokie
Who was thrown in the Sing Sing pokey
They claimed he was off key
And his voice was croaky
So he killed them at karaoke!

TALK TOO FAST
SCREAM EXSTREMLY LOUD
YELL UNTIL MY EARS RING
HOLLA UNTIL MY THROAT BURNS
SING THE WRONG WORDS
OFF KEY
HE DID, PUT ME ON
MUTE!

Today I’m grateful that no matter how much I age
as I continue to sing…even if a little off-key…
a little bit of my childhood innocence
sings along with me.

One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor
Tis the season for upchucking from every pore
From singing off key
To removing dungarees
Picking up chickies with attributes galore

Whimsy flowers
On the edge of sleep
Mirage-like echoes
Singing off key
Arias
Challenge
The closing curtain
Whispers
Hidden
In the dusk
Of dreams
Dance
In the vapory mist
Of sleep’s
Oasis.

In daybreaks glow
Whispers of a new day
A sleeping world stirs
Act one of the play
And I sing
Off key
And made up words
To the first birds
Who answer in kind
With tones much sweeter
Than I may find

Sounded Like Sitting On a Cactus
Should have to hear when at practice;
Sounded as if were sitting on a cactus;
They would be,
Always off key;
Men are humbugs while women a priss.

There once was an off-key raccoon
Joined a feat and barked out of tune,
Since he groaned aloud
The pissed judges cowed
As he won to shut off this loon!

Two souls mixed in tunes,
Rippling chords in harmony,
Strumming the same song.
Rhythmic love notes,
Vibrating flames of passion,
In synced hearts of pair,
We sing vows of love,
Pitching notes of high and low,
Not to bounce off key.

Remember when, 'way back then'
Our flag we flew -- to cheers, not boos
Old Glory, all saluted
No one taunted, no one hooted
'Star-Spangled Banner' folks sang
Off-key, tear-stained twang
We believed every word
Deep yearnings stirred

There once was a goat named Billy Bob Brown
Who sang horribly off-key when he danced through town.
One day while singing, someone grabbed a long pole,
And pushed Billy Bob into a large hole,
Now Billy Bob no longer sings as he dances around.

Encouraged by the masses
is mediocrity,
like when someone at a bar
sings bad karaoke.
As they belt out notes off key,
we might give guffaws.
Drunken with good will, though,
we offer up applause.

A baby boomer, late bloomer, at times a doom and gloom er.
Eats blueberries, says Hail Mary's, believes in leprechauns and fairies.
Works on commission, has good nutrition, too impatient to ever go fishing.
Sings in C, off key but always very happily.
Never a stoic, brave and heroic. Lately feeling mesozoic.

green snake poked his head out of the bathtub drain
singing Christmas carols off key, singing a loud refrain
i saw a turtle when Cobra slithered down and away
bear stuck his paw through at the end of the day
i am in no hurry to take a warm relaxing bath now
imagining seeing an inverted muddy hoof of dairy cow

Sniffs of cotton candy glide
Glistening like hairy sugar bombs
Through barns of dozy prized cows
Stinky squeaky piggies squeal off-key
While whirligig Ferris Wheels grind and spin
In the hum of the Tilt-A-Whirl and giddy voices

Through the eyes of a pirate I might be
A sunset on the ocean's seas.
Through the eyes of a pirate I shall be
A dolphin singing a little off key
Through the eyes of a pirate I will buy
A killer wave up to the sky
Through the eyes of a pirate I can do
Just about anything I want too

Alas, old blog, thou dost baffle me
Art thou a banjo short a cord
An off-key piano, tortured
A homeless cat meowing in the dark
A shaken not stirred literary libation
Advertising the talents of its writers
Redundantly raucous rhetoric
Echoing down a dusty corridor
Gathering the featherless dreams
Of forlorn and wingless words

you know those people you thought were crazy
but you didn't care anyways
because you were too
and did the most rediculous things with
laughed with, cried with
who was there when you needed them
and changed situations in a flash
they were the ones who sang off key
who danced togeether
who acted like they were on crack
and were the people you envied?

I had an elder friend
Visit me not too long ago
I asked her to join me in song
On my backyard patio
As the music played
She suddenly began to sing
A tune off key in her own words
To the song "Good Night Irene"
What a blessing that day
Bestowed upon me to see
With a chuckle she ended her tune
And that was her great Little Gift to me!

I sing my song slightly off key.
That's why no one, stands beside me
You may wonder why I'm upset.
I had hoped to sing a duet.
Maybe singing is not for me.
I will stick with my poetry.
The words I write can harmonize.
If they are sung by other guys.
Vocal talent I don't possess.
But with my words I can caress.
So I will let you sing my tune.
Better voices are made to croon.

I want to write tonight
But my muse has taken flight
Can’t blame her you see
My life is quite boring
The highlight of my day
Happens after I pray
Go to the YMCA exercise
Then watch the news prime time
I listened to favorite songs
Off key I sing along
Tune in to Poetry Soup
For inspiration despite my mood
Today there was no pain
I’d be happy to have this day again

Life is a dancing frequency
and being off key
can cost you to lose your soul
and return back to the abyss.
Nothing can escape the void.
Unless, you stare it in the eyes
and it stares back.
And then what?
Be Bold!
Be Brave!
Be Fearless!
Have Courage!
And, if you stare long enough.
Victory shall be yours.
Then you too, shall say: Let there be light!

If love speaks the same language
why are our words misunderstood?
One of us lost a pleasant voice.
Was it by chance or by choice?
Our singing was always in sync,
just like the love we shared,
but lately we're out of harmony.
One of us is singing off key.
We're like a piano out of tune
hitting notes that makes us cringe.
We might as well both be mute.
A truth neither of us can refute.
