Alas, old blog

Alas, old blog, thou dost baffle me
Art thou a banjo short a cord
An off-key piano, tortured
A homeless cat meowing in the dark
A shaken not stirred literary libation
Advertising the talents of its writers
Redundantly raucous rhetoric
Echoing down a dusty corridor
Gathering the featherless dreams
Of forlorn and wingless words

Over the years I've been an advocate for eliminating the arbitrary rating system (gone), adding a premium contest feature (adopted), adding audio (adopted), reducing poem dumping (adopted, though in name only). All of these changes/revisions were promoted via blogs, despite the angst and fist shaking from a choir that can't quite seem to sing on key, but love to write defamatory poetry about other poets, all the while claiming justification for doing so. Gosh, I feel a new blog coming on ...

John, a great poem. Blogs on PS these days seem to be a place that has turned the soup sour. There's too much hatred, belittling, name calling and attacking others. It's sad that some just comment on blogs to feed their ego's.

Blogs are like people, some wise, some dumb, and some too enamoured with their own self-importance. To paraphrase it’s a bit like that old adage: there are three kinds of bloggers, those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what just happened! Present company excluded of course. No, I’m not winking, there is something in my eye.

Wingless words, like some that think issues need fixing but that doesn't fly with most soupers. Often, blogs become a battleground. Gauntlets thrown and it's a war zone. Among adults, opinions should be able to be shared without using pens as swords. Look at the instigators and see the redundancy of their need for attention. Not worth time and effort to be that childish. I'm here to write, not preach to the choir when it doesn't want to sing. I like your train of thought, John.

To be honest John soup is so much sweeter without the conflict some blogs can cause but some folk cant resist posting them lighting the blue touch paper and then acting all innocent when the fireworks explode! hugs jan x
