Breakfast starts
and coffee brews,
cat gets milk
and tender chews.
Oatmeal, eggs,
a fruity riot,
teapot whistles,
house still quiet.
here are the bits of my homework I say
tossing them out of an Oatmeal box
Onto my teacher's desk
They are slimy with saliva
she screams
The cereal then gets too soggy,
if you're weakly and your wobbly ~
Your next best guess then ought-a-be
is switch to oatmeal . . . . probably!
Morn
Awake
I arise
to fry my eggs
Bacon on the side
Do this each day
Time to change

Silent One
Chicken breasts with whiskey trace
Stuffed rich with oatmeal
Heart, liver and onion mix
Spiced to ones taste buds
Folded, oven bound
Pepper sauce
Nice!
Oatmeal cookies green and red;
Chocolate bon-bons,
Cocoa blanket on smores bed
All candy cane striped
‘neath caramel cage
What delight
Ummm!
Lee’s very excited today.
Mom’s helping with her tea party.
Now that Lee’s dollies are in place,
Oatmeal cookies and tea are served.
Playtime at the park will follow.
Bowl of oatmeal
squirt of honey
spoon of jelly
fills the belly
Nothing fancy
Just the basics
Diet fads ~
It will fix
Mud puddle Marvin makes messy mixes
Never nailed Nanette notices noodles by nixes
Ostentatious Oscar organizes oatmeal fixes
Providing proof personified, pixie counts by sixes
Oatrageious Oatmeal Cookies
Best cookies baking
Magnificently making
Breath away taking.
Greatest, simplest
Horn Haiku ever written
And cookies bitten.

there's soup

there hot oatmeal
a breakfast deal
than you hop to pork chop
with mean collard green
this food to be strong
to carry on for this reason
this is
SOUL FOOD SEASON
If I might propose a toast
to an aromatic morning roast,
where the orange juice of yesterday
meets the oatmeal of tomorrow,
and the milk of a continental buffet
drowns the Corn Flakes of my sorrow.
Adios dear dentist with shots, x-rays and drills
Adieu root canals, crowns, and skyrocketing bills
With just gums underneath
I'm outliving my teeth
G'day dear hot oatmeal, ciao vitamin pills

My oatmeal is not like yours
Unless you stir in a tablespoon of peanut butter
Add a little chocolate syrup
And three giant spoons full of brown sugar.
Then it is exactly like yours
Except I sneak in more sugar.
Chocolate chip
Oatmeal
Sugar
Peanut butter
Gingerbread
Delicious smells
Waft from kitchen
To pull you away from your doings
So you can just take one soft warm cookie
With milk
And then share them with the family
Form:
Cola, orange soda
Root beer, ginger ale
Spaghetti, lasagna
Fruits, oatmeal
Turkey and rice
Sour cream and onion dip
Kiwi and apple slice
Corn or potato chips
I become unsightly
When I am hungry

oatmeal and maple syrup
pancakes and blueberries
ice cream with sprinkles
malt-o-meal with bananas
I doctor all of my food
adding chocolate milk and three sugars to my coffee
If there is cool whip, that goes in too
I do not “do” plain.
The egret was poking along thorough the brush
A bull name of King began to get a giant crush
The last love interest he had was a tiny blue thrush
He offered the egret a bite of his oatmeal mush
She declined politely, as had that blue thrush
Salt, yeast, and flour,
Roll the dough,
Rise for an hour.
Rye, Wheat, Oatmeal too!
Take a piece,
Toast and jam for you.
Try and taste the rest
But you know
Pizza is the best!
Try bagels and Lox.
No more bread?
Open the breadbox!
i left these monokus to soak overnight ~ they’ve plumped up pretty tight

Teacher left a wrapped soft oatmeal cookie on her desk.
I could touch it with my right hand if I wanted to.
I think about opening it up and devouring it.
But it might be her lunch.
I leave it unbothered.
Annoyed she dumps it in the garbage upon her return.
The river’s low
it’s flowing slow
the Egret’s feet are dry
he hunts a frog
beneath a log
as sundrenched shadows sigh
a muskrat stuck
in oatmeal muck
struggles to the shore
as I drift by
I start to cry
our river is no more

Clove of garlic for the heart
Green tea for diabetes
Carrots for the eyes
Milk for healthy teeth and bones
Coffee for alertness
Prune juice for regularity
Spaghetti for energy
Oatmeal for fullness
Green beans for vitamin 12
Red meat for anemia
Apple fritter for my sweet tooth
The snow piles up again today
Warm oatmeal cookies smell nice inside
As senses bring delight my way
The snow piles up again, today
Working and creating things along the way
Like another busy winter ride
The snow piles up again today
Here near the woodstove, I will hide

My father placed it in a bowl,
in a bowl, before me.
It made me sorry to my soul.
'Twas then that I could see...
that I became aware...
the oatmeal sitting there
was not oatmeal I could eat -
I'd asked for cream of wheat,
and the cereal of my father,
my own dear uncle's brother,
sat uneaten, and grew cold,
as both of us grew old.
