Coming Back
In the middle of nowhere…
the center of it all

Coming back to my beginning
—one choice to recall

Roman Toga
There was an old man from Saratoga
Who always wore an old Roman toga
Spice of parties they’d shout
Showing bony knees he’d flout
Till he froze to death in North Dakota....

Anther shamanic sunset in the upper Midwest
Magical brush strokes and hues that redact your mind to the test

Global Warmng
If you live in North Dakota
it’s hard to get all hot about
global warming in the winter

while you watch the snow
clog your wipers and you
slip off the road but if you

own a factory that makes
short-sleeve shirts you know
global warming is a hoax.

Premium Member Happy Tanka
happy Meadow Lark
filled my days with melody
in Dakota youth
were I to travel back there
would he be singing for me

happy was my lot
in my North Dakota land
worry and care free
as the melodious bird
was he the reason I thrived

could I find my way
in the land of my childhood
back to thrills and trills
would I be sad if my bird
had forgotten how to sing...

Premium Member I Have Rose Gold Hair
I have rose gold hair my sister said.
What color is that? I asked. Is it red?
I was hoping it was not, for she is my twin.
Looking exactly alike all our life has not been a win.

It is like rose gold jewelry, if you have seen that.
Some came from North Dakota from the county Platt.
I had not seen it at all, but was relieved to find
That her rose gold hair looked nothing like mine....

Where Is Hollywood, By the Way?
Red River overflows ...
North Dakota everyone knows
Where are all the movie stars aid?
Where are their phony dramatic shows?
North Dakota helped to build them up too,
that is why we cite this review.
Where is their help and fanfare?
Why haven't they traveled there?
Where is their help?
There are dire needs...
Perhaps they'll come, after the water recedes.
LONGSHOT~

A Great Poetic Nurse
Under the North Dakota skies,
Karen O’Leary’s heart lives free.
A gifted freelance writer,
Blessing us with her poetry.

Nestled by the mountains,
Is where her life resides.
She’s a good Christian mother,
Who takes each day in stride.

She shares her gift of words,
Creating masterful art in verse.
A loving wife to her husband,
And a great poetic nurse.
