Searching for thy bright sun
seeing a dimly lit star
Look away in remembrance
Of a once burning flame
I
would
rather lie
still and accept
eventual death than
try to squirm my way out
of a hammock while
someone is
watching
me
the tree, bare
in mid-summer
branches withered
bark peeling
a condemned sigh
rustled through
her brittle leaves
I had to look away
you are in my mind,
but then you fade away.
you are in my eyes,
but then you look away.
you are in my heart,
and forever you shall stay.
Form:
no matter what you do
you can't hide the truth
you look away
that no to today
have your say
don't be weaK
or defeat
and
TURN THE OTHER CHEAP
the oak and the ash
mightiest of the woodlands
bares all in winter
stands witness to his power
yet we choose to look away

cardboard messages
on street corners and parking lots
the face of despair
behind each sign a story
quickly glance and look away
Darling,
She said,
Look away.
Why,
I say.
Never looking back,
Is what I say today.
Take this single rose,
She told me,
It will comfort you in the hard times to come.
I see you but you look away
hidden from the world you know
never seen and there you lay
Beside me you turn away
scared and shy to face the truth
that true love is me and you...
With that sparkle in your eyes
I'm always in a reprise.
Your countenance being so chaste.
I could never look away...
And always want to stay.
For you're so angel faced.
what would you see if you looked at you heart?
would you see a broken mirror?
or a dark room?
would you look away and be scared?
frightened?
would you accept what is in your heart?
Form:
Sometimes,
I dare to look
into your forsaken-
forsakenly beautiful eyes.
Aquifers bursting sunlight burrowing
daisies swirling in a dream
under the sun
I look away
sometimes
With eyes that see and ears that hear,
but hearts that look away
Each child unkept—all life bereft,
to rue these mournful days
(Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia: March, 2020)
The way she made me smile, she.
The way she made me laugh, she.
The way I wanted her, she.
The way I adored her, she.
The way you couldn't look away, you
The way you keep reading, you.

a street urchin
we look away
that’s our choice
his soul recognises
lack of compassion
we will meet again
with roles reversed
before we merge
into God’s light

The sunlights up your face,
That can't help but make my heart race.
The more i look,
I feel i can't look away.
Faster and faster,
My heart wont stop.
What can i say,
I must be caught.
black spiked high heels
updo sparkly rhinestone comb
approving glances
in a party mood
flirty red cocktail dress
hard to look away
too much alcohol
unusually frisky
mistakes are now made
mannequin
more I look away
not do ever have to say
the stillness so stocks
alas my resistance starts
you who are dead to me, move

Stop!
Look away.
See the world without me in it.
Feel alive alone.
There is life for you without chains.
Take a step toward freedom,
independence.
I am leaving you to a better life.
Thank me
when I'm gone.
The way you're always down and gloomy makes me want to cry. I know how you feel lonely and no one cares. When I look into your eyes I see the hurt that lies inside. But when I look away you're still with me. I Know.
I look, I stare and I wait
until your eyes meet my own
and my heartbeat skylines all the way up
you look away, I come back down
and I stay put expecting another hit
one more glimpse of blue
another taste
of sky.
Always feels naughty to us
For to tingle so.
Bare-sodded, bare-streamed; cool, cool;
To dab, dip a toe.
The worst frivolity, bar
Being wholly nude!
"Look away now!" What's on our mind.
To worm's, fish's prude. We
It was just a hangout..
struggling to be brave;
Denying every doubt
overcome with nausea.
What’s your sharp gaze about?
I cannot look away…
now fear’s starting to sprout.
A claustrophobic cave,
I may never get out…
You bring me back,
back to you
gently moving me,
opening the eyes of my heart.
And when I look, look away
to focus on this twisted world
you bring me back, gently back
opening the eyes of my heart,
when I look away.
The suffering etched
Upon her stoic though visibly stricken face
broke my heart, and then broke it anew
till I had to look away, the load too great to help her carry
Though she never knew I tried
Best left to the hands of God
