Feast

Blackberries ripen
Fat field mice feast upon them
Leaner times ahead

Cake or Bust

There was a girl named Trina
She was a Pearl thin ballerina
Then she ate
Chocolate cake
Her thighs are no longer leaner

My Attempt At a Limerick

the neighbor's grass is always greener
and their house is always cleaner
but just remember
that come December
their family won't be any leaner

Missing Person

Suzy Ronson was a window cleaner
even stories high she was a leaner.
She reached much too far
lost grip on the bar.
Not a person around has since seen her.

Crazy Quincrosticain

Catastrophically strange.
Radically loopy demeanor.
Anticipated to derange.
Zany either fat or leaner.
Yesterday it got even meaner.

Hoover Moover

Sucked off by his vacuum cleaner
Vicar Jefs' wiener went leaner
His parish aghast
Told the cops, "Come fast"
The Judge called a Miss de Meanor*

(n.b., Baptist Jefs is now a
Registered Sex Offender so
guard your vacuum cleaner!

Solitary Times When Less Is More, Ty

Solitary Times When Less Is More, TY

I can
do more,
write less,
keep score,
This moment, I can, hope to write less.
With much leaner pen, do more, keep score.

Excepting Behavior

Sometimes I just
think myself out of thinking;
sort of like
exercising myself
out of exercising
having earned
a good rest--

then I check in the mirror
to see if my head has grown
leaner—larger;
Alas! Most thoughts
cannot be seen on the outside,

excepting behavior….

Cut The Carbs

I cut some carbs
From the home team
They were dead weight
If you know what I mean

They took their at bats
But were never a hit
Since they turned fat
And slowed me a bit

Yet it wasn’t easy
Shedding the weight
Of seasoned players
Who came to the plate

But now we’re leaner
And back in the game
Where losing is winning
In our hall of fame

Questions

How many times have I tried to remember,
and I tend to forget?
How long have I been the pretender,
- since the day that we’ve met?

Will the grass now grow greener,
since I’ve wet the earth?
Will your heart now become leaner,
having established my worth?

Will my questions be answered
by God’s quiet grace?
Or will my doubts
be reflected
right back to my face?

Discipline

Discipline is doing what you hate like you love it
Asking for more when you are past the point of quit
The dying of an old spirit to let a new one in
Forcing progression with a bittersweet grin
Just when it seems completely futile
When all you can feel seems abysmal
That is autophagy taking over
Out will come thyself leaner
Stripped of detritus
No longer a novice

Getting Older

Getting Older
As I'm getting older,
    I'm not getting any bolder,
and women's attitude towards me is getting colder.

As I become a senior,
    my demeanor becoming meaner,
          my funds becoming leaner.

With all this trouble,
I'm living in a plastic bubble,
and you'll find my ethics in the rubble.

A Winner Becomes Thinner

In herself she saw An Easy Winner,
Until she began to be thinner;
You should know what I mean: leaner
And for it earned the name Tina’
Together with ‘Lena’…

Then, she turned Dare-Devil fighter
And though things still got tighter
Not too long became lighter
Her Sun shining the brighter.

Now, she knows: nothing like Easy winner
The searcher for it, at first skinnier.

Justina For Beauty Queen

Is that not High School Justina:
The Elder Sister of Tina?
So, why us she is getting leaner,?
Praying and fasting like Lena?
Or modeling like Martina:
Body reshaping to turn winner?
Now the craving of A Pageant
Wanting to life make pleasant...

So, she's dumping scholarship
For on - stage applause and worship?
God, help Day - Dreaming Justina
And not count her Rebel sinner...

The Loner

Odd bird stands out among the seaside flocks
Taller, leaner with red stripes round one eye
Squats in the sand, oblivious to mocks

Opens his beak, emitting a strange cry
Gulls spread their wings, rise high and relocate
Odd bird remains, doesn’t take to the sky

Acceptance by others is not his fate
Solitude is all he has ever known
Feathers unruffled, he lives without hate

One of a kind, this bird has no clone
Staying true to himself, his strength is shown
