with his little pet monkey
give him a penny

coming around to tell me
what time it is,
tell him I bought a clock.
 
I had a tolerance for the old man
and his little dressed up monkey,
but day after day the same old tune,

Tangled vines are relative
twisting way up into my family tree.
When we were young, still in college, 
my cousins all knew I needed a buck or two,
small amount just to get over a slump.

it would have helped me move on.
