Machete jabs cycle through a staccato lied. The music is Jurassic, a tune rattled in the throat of a feathered lizard. It pecks out the genetic code of jackhammers. Stabs eardrums deep, a primal stirring of blood and sap. The forest echoes as time hammers on.

I watched the shark its teeth display (1975)
My heart swallowed my tongue, I'd nothing to say

Sixteen years later a great dinosaur classic (1993)
was set in a surreal park named Jurassic

But my favorite of all came out in-between (1982)
ET phoned home, made my heart sing ~ cash registers ring...

An Elderly Gentleman Discovers Nirvana
Of course he had heard of Kurt Cobain,
had curled his lips dismissively,
equating rock music to Jurassic noise.
Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms
were all the B’s he needed for his hive.
The great American song book was his bible.
Yet and even,
when he listened to that ‘Never Mind’ album
play list on YouTube,
that gentleman, not much given to profanity,
said to himself:
‘Crap, I missed’....

Winter Carnival is here
  The best time of year

The statue this year is a classic
  An Ice-thyosauras - era, Jurassic

So many activities to choose from
Ice skate, double-date, be a ski bum

For those with stout hearts
Climb Mt. Moosilauke for a start

Then bobsled all the way down
  Back to Hanover Town

Just make sure the goggles you wear
Ensure your eyes survive the wintry white glare...

Radio
Driving down the street
 BOOM BOOM'
Listen to the Beat
BOOM BOOM

*Cringe..disgusted face* ..what's this? Kesha?...sure is
Playing that on the RADIO? That should be ILLEGAL!
I want something new rocking my ear drum
Time for a CD.. Will it be be Mr. Charles?
Miss Winehouse? Or Jurassic 5?
Hmmm..What will it be?

“Been friend for a long time, very close friend of mine”
Awww....*smile ear to ear*
Much better...
Now on what street do I turn?...

Alarm Clock In Jurassic Park
Roar of a snore
Heard it before
Intense urge to wiz
Felt the call that is
Awake too soon
So far from noon
Early to rise
A primal surprise
An annoying jolt
Stampeding down Jurassic Park
Up all night, pitch black dark
Toss and turn
Oil to burn
Seething at the snort
Restful slumber to abort
No excuse for this abuse
Ring the alarm, light a fuse
Snored awake, sleep do shake
Awful Fright, this late night
Pitch black dark
Jurassic Park...

So open your minds, don’t ignore us

*Japanese fishermen found an alleged plesiosaurus which was thought to have
vanished during the Jurassic period. Others believe the Loch Ness monster is a
plesiosaurus. You can see a picture of them at

A Day At the Bank
A day at the bank,
I could never forget,
With the scowl-faced monsters all around.
Am I in the prehistoric Jurassic age? I thought.
They smell the greens so well,
their ear for the tinkles so clear.
Those radiating smiles,
reflecting their urge to hunt down their prey,
those who just walked down to them unaware.
Their transition from the meek to the prowl,
and from prowl to scowl.
A day in the bank I could not forget.

Woodpecker
Machete pecks
cycle through a staccato lied.
The music is Jurassic,
a tune rattled in the throat
of a feathered lizard –
the genetic code
of jackhammers.
Apart from the tock-tock
of beak on wood,
their calls are insane.
One could be a jack-ass braying,
one a monkey’s angry chatter.
In some we can hear a pterodactyl
calling from a far distant past.
Woodpeckers are wonderful,
Awesome,
the way a velociraptor
would be awesome
if it could whomp its way
through forests....

Tyrannosaurus have come to bore us
till the next Jurassic Park movie’s nigh
Archaeopteryx’s feathers look more like sticks
who believes this lizard could fly?

Triceratops were dutiful pops
still the kids got a horn in the eye,
though Hadrosaurus were really flatus
their duckbill toots were just a sigh.

But with Comet Chicxulub,
Dinos joined the extinct club
though bird descendants remain
and if we don’t get our act together
Homo-sapiens’ fate will be the same....
