a geek's bonus

An unshaven programmer tech
Drooled java on a Starbucks deck
His net earnings grew
As fooled patrons threw
Dinero to pay for his check

Cameltoes of Archipelagos

As prose and verses are fabled,
the rain cats and dogs.

Love is endorphinated,
hug Dutch wife tightly.

A cup of Java,
occupied.
Nice?

Hot Java

One takes a sip,
licking lips,
licking the rim.

Tongue hot, taste flavorful;

Sliding down throat deep asks
"May I have a refill? Please."

Java

My day ain't complete sans a cuppa java

And it must be as blisterin' hot as flowin' lava

Java For Life

No better brew in life can be found
then that made from the grounds
of self confidence, sweetened
with self command and topped
off with the cream of accomplishment.

Sleepy Red Eyelid

The sun peeps out over the horizon
   Sleepy red eyelid, un-java-nated...
Fiery streaks soon emblazon the sky
   Caffeine's supreme
~ Full steamy summer's day ahead

Pure Rot

Some days are winners, others are not Jury's out but seems things have gone to pot My mood's in the dumper My world's split asunder We've run out of java, my day is pure rot

Sipping Java In My Recliner

That first cup of java is there anything finer Than the aroma that wafts past your nose at the diner It's a joy unsurpassed It's a sensory blast But it's even finer sipping java in my recliner

A Fairy Type Being

With a first sip of java I reach heaven's door Come back to life and start soaring once more Like a fairy type being As I hold back my peeing Mere mortals have rarely witnessed such beauty before

Perk

coffee's perking
mind is working
always in the past

pour a cup
to wake me up
wondering if it can last

another hour
java empowers
has the die been cast

drive to work
heart in a cirque
the feeling, vast

Concerning An Ant's Dna

Skiing on a cup of java
  the little ant got burned
Limping out to lick his wounds
  he decided to return

Once again the ant was scalded
  yet he seemed quite unconcerned
I guess that ants are just not programmed
for this lesson to be learned

Java Love

I am a coffee hound to say the least.
Without my java I can be a beast.
Just love that steaming cup
that warms and picks me up.
And productivity is much increased!

Learn Not To Code

A man who enjoyed writing code once took a wrong turn down a road. Forsaking recursion, he took an excursion, now dabbles in sonnets and odes. His java is still close at hand, but now it is black and smells grand. Who needs a compiler? Just hike a two-miler; the bugs are all out on the land.

brief biopic of a bean

isolated leaves—
Coffea shrubs reach their stems
toward sole-hung sun

java shops murmur
—misty exhales from hushed mugs
loneliness is loud

Bean's journey from upturned earth
as vast as stem to sol in want
of contentment's overflown cup.

Facing our umbered reflections,
we drink, we drown, we want to trust.

Intuition

New project in Java
And there is an old one to mend
In heart burning lava
Is on a quest for a frontend.

Meanwhile spring's in fast car,
Lilacs blossom, intoxicate
With smell and so we are
Happy on earth, never be late

For your personal call,
Your desire, ultimate mission,
Yes there are times of stall
But do follow intuition

Sunday Morn

Sunday sunrise
breaking through
bay window
coffee brewing
the aroma inebriating
crossword puzzle
pencil in hand
and in the kitchen
dreamy wafts
of costa rica java
mingling with
perfumes of
strawberries
and waffles

Java without the Jive

The coffee mug that my ex-wife bought in London has come to America. Its printed message says, "Best Dad Ever." 30 years of morning coffee later hot Java clears sleep from a clogged throat. This day, I ponder on the merits on not being the worst dad ever. Luckily there are no mug logos that convey only partial truths.

In a New York City minute

another weekday
she awakens
to the sunrise aroma of
preset coffee brewing

her eyes still closed
she thinks about her day
and slowly starts to form
thoughts in her head

so much to do
so little time
a jolt of java
revs up the engine

give her a minute
she'll come to life
another sip
and there it is

it's all systems go!

Coffee Master

I am the greatest coffee drinker.

The best wide awake thinker.

I drink my java,

hotter than lava,

always black. I never tinker.

My Joe does not flow from a mug,

cause I down it from a gallon jug.

My coffee is the strongest,

and my buzz lasts the longest.

I hate to move slow, like a slug.

Awake In Long Beach

AWAKE IN LONG BEACH

awaiting the perk

from freshly brewed java

the lull in gull squabble over

a tide dredging up debris

blemishing beach

husband and wife

skiffs passing in night

each wake muster

“good morning”

sugar black coffee

crack boiled eggs

never a smile

their chink in armor

invisible

amour not at all

what it’s cracked up to be

A Little About Me

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

I wake up in the morning – the thing that I do first
Is hurry to the bathroom – for fear my bladder will burst

Then I scrub in like a surgeon – and head for the coffee pot
Hoping that first cup of java – will truly hit the spot

By 8:00 I'm ready for my first nap of the day – and the bed seems so inviting
But rejoining my bride for a little love play – somehow is more exciting
