In my happy place:
Island that is my birthplace.
Joining the rat race
As a temporary face
In my store at my own pace.
Rapa Nui had no trees
Not one canoe to fish the seas
No fire to cook
No shady brook

Island
Soft sand beaches touch the rolling aqua waves
Dense grove of coconut palms reach for the sky
come follow me to the island called home. Welcome black sinners to the rainbow dome. spider queen feeds on the wacky clowns.
hot summer day
blistering sun
soaked shirt
hot sand
island beach
flip flops
cool drink
under cabana
parched lips
Stuck on brown seaweed,
its fate is sad...it awaits
death in dark exile.
Entered in Raul Moreno's contest, " Journey "
a dead gum tree burns
alone on the rusted hills
in your jet stream
threading a cerulean course
toward some obscure island
Cherishing my dream,
Where wishes are granted true,
A magical place,
That is surreal, paradise.
An island of haven thoughts.

No Island
Haiku: by Tom

No man's an island,
we all depend on others.
Sometimes others fail.
This island is my garden,
As its gatekeeping warden
I protect all of which is splendid.
I forbid thee entree for what you did.

Never mistaken as Caliban.
Known for his island fiction

Perhaps I will wait til' morning
to go to the other side
of the island
Miniature Edens. Regularly insular
but small hopes can't be
everything in poverty.
Big brains flee from atrophy.
Born across the sea
Freedom through Ellis Island
Worked her life long
Gave her children her own dream
Worn, lined, beautiful face
The man
draws water.
from a well on an island

from a spring on a mountain
Ten thousand
weary footsteps
For a drink
Form:
periwinkle sky
is separated from
a sapphire blue sea
by mountains of indigo
blue is this island I love

The dawn is breaking
Waking the birds in the roost
Time to rise and fly
In bird island by the sea
Early birds catch the best worms
Kiawah's sun dips,
Marshes blush in soft pastels,
Spring whispers low.
Egrets dance in twilight's grace,
Day ends in a gentle sigh.
A drink of ocean water champagne
blossoms out going pleasure
evoke swells of glorious dances
releasing island songs in the air alive
Beautiful but sad
Too vast yet little
My wings have been seized
By this lonely and quiet island
A beauty in it's own mystery
aerial view spies
a misshapen eye of blue
