East Coast Mlb
one hundred sixty two games
knowing all the players names
follow scores best we can
west coast games bring sandman
we'll watch the standings
keep track of innings
after all-star game it ignites a flame
winners will win and losers fall to shame...

Baseball Is Not Just For Boys
From this summertime game, girls derive joys. Who said baseball should only be played by boys? Girls can catch fly balls, field grounders, and render a mighty swing. In comparison to boys, girls can do anything. They can hit singles, doubles, triples, and a home run. Girls play all nine innings until the game is won. inspired by another member's poem

Premium Member Five-inning Quitters
  The more other sports change
the more baseball stays the same

Bleeding fans as well as talented players
the ‘national pastime’ needs our prayers

So, I have a suggestion whose time has come
one for which I want to bang the drum

No more ‘win’ for a starting pitcher
     who is a ‘five-inning’ quitter

Either six complete innings from him ~
or he can take his shower at the local gym

The Crow Took a Crowbar
The crow took a crowbar, a dog a doggerel rhythm
Both played their great innings, hoho, they had that freedom
                                     Crow’s wife a cold fish
                                       Dog was so wolfish
He made lunch a rough fish and all gained subtle treedom.

                                                "lxlxlxlxlxlxl"

Premium Member Nine
Nine, the number of innings in a baseball game
If you're on cloud nine, it's happiness you proclaim
Everything included means you want the whole nine yards

Nine judges on the supreme court act like retards
In nine months a baby emerges from the womb
A cat has nine lives is what we assume

If you're dressed to the nines, then you're fine
A standard work day will usually begin at nine
All entries in this contest must have nine lines...

Premium Member A Sure Bet
When the Archbishop died the Canon thought he’d make a buck
Keep it quiet, bet on it and put it down to luck
Told the Dean to place a bet that Archie’s gonna croak
Stick a fortune on it so that soon you won’t be broke

Then the story came out and the Canon scooped his winnings
No suspicions: the Archbishop had a decent innings
But the Dean was jaded and he moaned life isn’t fair
I made my bet a treble…
with the Queen and London Mayor...

Read All About It
I peddled papers that cost just a dime
In my baskets that rode on balloon tires so fine
Made some tips, about four of five bucks
birds spread the news too, so do all the ducks
do you think that they are in the choir
they entertain you for free and not for hire.
going to the ball game cost you a days pay
innings are long, food is bad, so you don’t stay
where can you go and become amused
best things in life are free, and a dime for the news...

Beauty and Diviersity
A baseball game is fun to watch and cheer
For nine innings are spectators all geared
Pitchers and batters, runners and fielders
Excitement uncontained as umpires yell there
Batter up is the sound pitcher to the mound
The hindcatcher yells the batter Now!
As the batter swings the crack is heard
Foul ball is the umpires voice and final word
Two strikes and three balls while the batter eyes all
The pitch is thrown as the batter swings tall
April 21 2016...

Extra Innings
No team minds playing extra innings if the final results of the games are winnings. Scoring runs is something both teams tried. However, after nine innings, the game is tied. They have to keep playing until there is a score. If not, the two sides must play a little more. As sure as all baseball players live, somebody scores a run. Something’s got to give. How happy the winners are after the game. The losers have to go home with shame.

Farewell
Genteel and articulate,
An inspiration you have been.
Loyalty and Passion
In you, we have seen.

Rising through ranks,
Sweat blood all this while.
Making your way,
Through every test and trial.

It's about time,
To graciously pass the baton.
Leaving a legacy,
That we'll now build upon.

Your cabin walls,
Will confine you no more.
You're set free,
To venture and to explore.

Nostalgia lingers,
As we bid adieu.
Happy 2nd innings Sir,
A new life awaits you!...
