The Crash

is it love,
asked the passenger to the driver,
that brings a cloud and a mountain together?

was it the kiss in reply,
asked one cop to another,
that caused the crash
on that foggy morning in December?

She signed her name, "Mary"
And she knew that she'd been had
Now, she'd never get the A
So she took it on the Lam....................................b

Sunrise

hanging on the hinges the door
is a broken tongue choked
pulsing taste all over the floor.
staccato whisper i murmur
'no' in reply, can't find the exit
in the sky but it won't hurt to
try. removed face, disgraced
erased & redrawn with no eyes
- gone with sunrise.

Tennis Anyone....

Somebody asked me if I
liked to play tennis...
in reply I asked why?
in response,somebody said,
"because you like to serve..."
i suppose then,my answer is yes...
"but you're always losing,30-0..."
i smiled and said,
"no not losing,thats 30-love,
with love,how can I lose....."

Wordless

During a season of writer's block,
my pencil idly lays...
My notebook rests untouched on
my desk for days...

Whenever I receive a message
I don't know what to say in reply,
Frustrated with a loss for words,
Tears start to well up in my eyes.

Where is that key
to unlock the words?

Love On the Forum

Years gone by, pen pals was all the rage
friendship, love and romance.

but the forum is a different beast more like
meeting friends in the pub or the street.

I finger and caress with keyboard strokes
in reply to your words so many miles away.

Love on the forum who can tell and who cares

Caleb Heart

Come to me he whispered,

And I was happy to comply,

Love, in the highest from shone from his eyes,

Every cell in my body, responded to his voice.

Be mine I whispered

He nodded in reply

Everything I wanted was in him

All my dreams, in him

Rejoice,

Taboo of love, is broken

Where's My Shoe

Where is it? Where is it?
My lonely lower appendage heaved a sigh
His shoe had gone on the lam
I searched until my end's wit!
But what do I see..with Spot in the dirty backyard pit?
Is that a bone of ham?
Why, its a moccasin, buried laces high!
"Hey! That's my shoe," I cry
And Spot just barked at me in reply

What Is Love?

what is love to you
a term to sign with your name
a hollow box of empty promises
a packet in your purse to smooth over
your sharp comments
who do you love
other than yourself
in reply to everything you weave a story
of yourself
love is the selfless giving
not expecting anything in return
and rejoicing
at reciprocation

The Dancing Fjord

There is a green
Beyond all green
That hides behind the wintry white.

a green so sweet
that tears slip from the eyes
and turn to dew upon the ground.

the green so sweet
that beloved dead burst into flowers
before the snow sings in the summer.

Bird song
Dances
In the sweetness of the green---
And as it slides into the sea
The blue sings in reply.

Elm Tree

I told the elm it was called ELM, and it was grateful,
for it always wondered what its name could be.
I told the elm I liked it stately,
and in reply it waved a branch to me.

It watched me as I skirted round it
in long skirts I wore back then,
and the elm looked through its kindly branches
while I wrote ELM on twig with pen.

Tubular Bells

Lying within his own pool of blood, his friend
Gently holding his hand, saying, Are you sorry for your sins ?
Damien, squeezing lightly in reply and, Yes, I am.
A tear falling from his eyes; a whispered prayer; winds
Stirring leaves and Autumn's trees; children, gathering to see...
Flashing lights dangling her rosary she weeps; broken heart's as silver wings.

Clothes Waiting To Be Washed

Smelling the clothes rinsed,
Easily he winced
Then, freed a waiting sigh
For the ones not dry …

Now, quite The Helpless-Tired,
He shall have a launderer hired
The Heart he needs that of A Lion
To The Settled Ones iron …

Clothes keep waiting to be washed,
Even asking that this be rushed
But in reply a face is just flushed,
Because Tap Water still gushed.

Premium Member When the Flames Start Rondine

When the flames start to lick the sky
manifested desire will soar;
Go on now, speak what you adore
Gaining a powerful ally
as you reach potential, oh my!
It will be like nothing before;
When the flames start
they will soothe you and satisfy;
A safe haven forevermore;
Show who you are, your inner core;
Heed what you hear in reply
When the flames start.

Premium Member Born Again

In reply Jesus declared (to Nicodemus, the Pharisee, of the Jewish ruling council), “ I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.“ John 3:3 NIV Bible

If Only

There are many things I wish
Like wishing for the day
When you can answer in reply
'I really am ok'
(And mean it)

I wish for something better
Like I could never give
Although you know I'd give myself
If it meant you would live
(I mean it)

I wish you could understand
That what I say is true
Regardless of what you believe
Someone does love you
(I promise)

Stronger Than I Thourght

Like the phoenix from the ashes I rose, that was not the life I chose,my weaknesses used against me,just wasn’t the person I wanted to be..Didn’t like my dress sense, didn’t like my hair, you really hurt my feelings, you just didn’t care!..No I love yous in reply, feeling so lonley that I just wanted to die..Always fighting, never no peace, the day I left you was a beautiful release..

Mutual Respect

The young sapling bowed its head
. . . Humble and shy
Full of his master’s gracious respect
. . . Wishing to reply
You are my mentor and noble lord
. . . Offering the reason why

The gnarled old tree lifted its head
. . . Weary and wise
Fully conscious of his words in reply
. . . Not wishing to surmise
You are my son and loved one
. . . Both reached for the skies

The Journey Is the Goal

It is not, necessarily our goals
That will on our life hold sway
But, the journeys that we undertake
And what they teach us on the way

As for me

I have learned but one thing only
A simple little fact
That my wife knew all along
Of all the things I lacked

But, because she loved me
And this is just my guess
In reply to my question
Her answer, was still yes

Wishes

To count how many stars there are,
the little lights in the sky,
that every night you wish upon,
A wish a night until you die.
The wishes float up into space and land apon Gods hands,
   some he anwsers in reply,
and some just float off through the lands.
Some people are conceited, mean or just dont try,
but the others will go to heaven,
   Heaven is where they'll lie.

A-Ha

Sky - blue
I remember you
And warm, abundant sunshine
Grass - green
You haven't been seen
In such a very long time

The scent in the air
More soothing than any
Aromatherapy
The birds singing
More melodious and varied
Than any symphony

What is this feeling
That has come upon me?
It seems familiar, and then
I smile, and whistle
In reply to a robin
"Yes - it seems I am happy again"

Medicinal Exchange

The doctor said at first,
“Mrs. Ingram, I regretfully say,
Your husband has left, he has gone away”

With a tear she said in reply,
“How could this have happened,
He came in with Pink Eye?”

The doctor replied,
“oh, sorry to confuse, I need to say more,
I prescribed some drugs and he ran out the back door.”

The woman then smiled and turned with glee,
“He won’t get very far, I have the car key!”

Throwing Dice

the screen door closes with a rattle
like a man trying to throw Yahtzee
despite the odds

shortly after, the familiar footfall of my father
calling ‘Baba boy, baba boy’ to me on the porch

I life my mug in reply, filled with hot coffee,
he fills the watering can with cold water

a low breeze rustles the fronds of a palm tree
father pours water on transplanted roots. it grows here
despite the odds

Premium Member Disdain Dizain

Disdain can be so hurtful and baseless.
So hard to renew prestige once tarnished.
Derision, sneering in reply useless,
As disdain on disdain, with brush varnished
Only adorns contempt with scorn garnished.
Better to outflank to prove your true worth
In common ground dug over to unearth
A new campaign where seeds already sown
Can yield reputation and worth rebirth
Freed of need to moan and atone, alone.
