Mutual Respect

The young sapling bowed its head . . . Humble and shy Full of his master’s gracious respect . . . Wishing to reply You are my mentor and noble lord . . . Offering the reason why The gnarled old tree lifted its head . . . Weary and wise Fully conscious of his words in reply . . . Not wishing to surmise You are my son and loved one . . . Both reached for the skies

I have a wonderful picture to accompany this haiku; but can't post it yet until I become a full member. JH

Ohhh, this is simply beautiful. And that last line is so visual, I can see it . It's such a great metaphor. The rhyme in here as well as the cadence carries the poem. It accentuates the pause after every two lines.

You both (Darren and White Wolf) make me feel proud, then humble. I think there's a new haiku coming on. JH

That is beautiful, John! Reminds me of the grasshopper and his master!
