I troglodyte
In doldrums, scribbling-
the halcyon days
Promptly, my soul-
recalls, lo beloved's
pumpkin countenance
the troglodyte span
scribbling doldrum brain power
the halcyon days
Cherish past memories ... things are rarely as good second time around
Last year we went back to where we used to live ... it had changed so much the memories were much better than the reality

Cool
water
pushes up
against my face.
Eyes searching, left, right,
enchantment, pure delight.
Darting colours dashing through.
From twilight shadows wonders move.
I hang, buoyant, watching, mesmerized
enraptured by this lustrous paradise
The world that sets aside its halcyon days
will not reprise
the time we seized our genitals
for one audacious drama starring two,
will not recall the lightning strike
that instituted sacrament
to mark an end and set eternal fire
upon a new creation,
you and I.
~
Infinite sorrows non-existent
life chirped in oblivion
halcyon days of childhood
unplanned outcomes were a hit
full-on Masti from dawn to dusk
until a voice boom into ur giggles
"You're grounded 4 a week"
a tiny moment of heartbreak,
erased again in no time with
your favourite ice cream.
Vernal springtime is departing,
Leaving plush carpets of petals,
All along scented garden paths,
And also in luxuriant meadows.
The sun has grown deep orange,
With distinct traces of old gold.
Stars embedded in purple flash,
As moon magic charms the hills.
Rosy halcyon days are leaving,
And the mellow hours are near.
The grass is dull brown
the ground rocky hard
From fair visions of Springtime
has sprung a graveyard
Clumps of leaves rest in puddles
in murky pools on sidewalks
Caught in cracks of chipped pavement
no way to turn the clock back
To halcyon days when the earth was alive
~ Nor plunged in darkness at quarter to five
Dodo the dead had halcyon days on her native shore
Like halcyon birds she was happy in heaven’s ground floor
Hounds and crews did her confuse
Struck the land with evil cues
Filled the air with wings of greed, naive Dodo was no more
The gush and glee
Of summer therapy
Sieged me, in her
Carefree ascension.
That goddess sun
Possessed me, warmed
my wings, healed my soul,
Drained the sadness out of me.
We linked like lovers
In a sacred field of flowers
Until I stumbled, she needs
To be free, she left me…
A few last halcyon days, to know
She loved me in her beautiful way.
These halcyon days seem fleeting
As our blue blood begins heating
Lie to ourselves, we've pretended
Together our hearts suspended
Both dive deeper in denial
Our thoughts we try to reconcile
For these sad souls are now mended
Together our hearts suspended
At first I was ducking for cover
But then, your grace I discover
My love you have apprehended
Together our hearts suspended
Drying up raindrops on window panes,
Accumulations of wet puddles in spring.
Yielding ample ripe fruits of hope on
Saturnine days; adding a touch of warmth
To frigid-cold winter, to the autumn breeze,
And ushering in halcyon days of summer.
Radiant sun, shining bright through the seasons
Heading down to the water's edge
A relaxing place to hang out
Forgetting my everyday cares and woes
Watching kids jump and shout
Everyone's wearing a great big smile
Laughing and skipping along
Reminding me of my halcyon days
Singing those happy songs
Cherish those spirited days of yore
With us for too short a while
Never to return except in our thoughts
So greet each day with a smile!

Oh! to be youthful and full of zest
Those halcyon memories arise
When frivolous day needed no rest
And mothers did firmly chastise.
Boundaries pushed, fun prevailed
When days were lived in the sun
No thought of tomorrow ever assailed
Golden halcyon days were spun.
Decades have fled and youth matured
Wisdom replaced bygone antics
Wheel of life turns generation assured
Is life just game of semantics?
Long ago, there were the halcyon days
we once knew when we were young -
gone like dollar matinees
when from tree branches we swung.
I remembered the dire words of song,
that said changes in the weather
are often known to come on strong,
as I watched the dark clouds gather.
You tell me that this storm has passed,
but should this howling wind prevail,
a martyr, I won't be miscast -
watch a battered heart set sail.
She adored her old, crepuscular cat,
Penumbra, and could see no evil in
his ways, visceral, quick to hiss at
strangers, cynical of almost everyone,
jealousy in him was always overdone.
Desultory, and all it constituted
exuberant, only when it suited,
his needs were opulent, never spare.
Halcyon days with kind deeds unrefuted,
his sonorous purrs were like a morning prayer.

Do you remember way back, yester-year,
and far off times when life had just begun?
Of languid days, so free and debonair,
all by the pool with friends and having fun?
Those happy thoughts of Sue and Kate and Clare,
their tummies tanned and torsos basking in the sun?
And me? Do I recall this bright and carefree dawn?
Oh no. You see, I wasn’t even born!

For nette onclaud's 'MOMENT IN ANOTHER TIME' Contest by Charles Clive.
The halcyon days of my youth were full of exuberant teenagers,
with a fire built and music blaring they,
danced under the crepuscular light,
with loud drunken sonorous,
much to the annoyance of the local opulent farmer who,
was cynical about the drunks not moving from his land,
then an eerie Penumbra silenced the drunks,
they sensed a visceral fear of change among them,
while they sat in a desultory mess,
jealousy was not too far behind.

The night inside me,
Anticipating heaven's light,
The gloom in my chamber,
Awaiting the sun's rise.
Treasured are the halcyon days,
Gone in a way cloaked by time,
Memorable are the bouquet days,
Shrivelled by the dark hands of time.
Struggling and creating,
All go on the dismal way,
Sculpting and moulding,
The materials are obstinate.
Twilight holds sway,
Dawn is in a deep sleep,
I'm on a journey to glory land,
Even though it’s across the seas.
June 29, 2023.
Sunrise, sunset,
Quickly goes the day
These words hold sway,
A song of the distant day.
Coming to the closing years,
Of life that started far away.
Remembering the storms of life,
That brought some times of strife.
Yet quickly goes the day,
that soothed the storms away.
Thinking of that tinkling brook,
Remembering your winsome look.
Oh sun rise again on halcyon days,
When lovers entwined in their tryst,
Stay forever enjoined by loves first kiss.
