Rock Bottom

Loaded blue-eyed woman
On the blood wheel
Three-legged train grinds
Mindlessly delicious cuts
Sweat gently littering the floor

Mush

Neuroscience
takes a world class meal
grinds it into bits
and tries to convince us
 — its taste has improved

The Alligator

In the zoo behold the gator
Seems evil just like Darth Vader
Grinds its food into bits
Accounts for lots of animals fits!
But at least it's not a hater!

Sabbath 'round the bend

   Workweek grinds to an end
Holy Sabbath just around the bend

Ring up the last sale, turn the key in the door
Enter a dimension where your spirit can soar

Second Try

Larry Randolfson was a brain physician
who soon wore himself out in that position.
Getting inside live minds
was the worst of all grinds.
So he became an autopsy technician.

The Sunny Side

Let's all start out on the sunny side It's easy when good judgement is applied Choices come easy Life's light and breezy Ignoring the bumps and grinds is my pride

Craving For a Bouquet

Her bouquet a dewed vessel
Flaming my love’s intense desire ;
I wait till rosette hips
Succumb to grinds of ecstasy.

Sad Story

Words fail
Cheer sails

End finds
Pain grinds

Too late
Grim fate

Last look
Close book

Fast hurl
Death curls

Rhymes break
Last stake

So Fine

Grinds so fine. Keep steep steady. Catch ev’ry nitty gritty. Screen darkness dregs. Press, add water. Start ebonic eddy. Stir ‘nilla cream, bright and witty. Chat with friends so fine. Keep.

Coffee

(We shared a cup of coffee
over the demise of our relationship
in an orange vinyl cafe)
As we drank to the bottom of the cup
I came to realize
I am the bitter mouthful left behind
and you, you are the grinds

Panoramic Plaid Underscores Sunrise

With days so bland, I must find color where I can

Panoramic Plaid Underscores Sunrise

grinds dark and fine, aroma transcending
tranquil skies a smoky gray ~
the saffron and blue grass

Waiting For You

The Country Mart broods over caverns
of lemon ices, and a logging truck
grinds the grade, and the tall pines
point at a half-moon in the mid-
morning sky that nobody else seems
to notice, except me, and I’m
just waiting.

Into the night grass

I’m up, all night long
My heart steals, sleep I’ve never had
Rainstorms wash the love away
I don’t want to feel that way
It blows my mind away
In search of love
Grinds my mind
Walk away, into the night grass
I don’t want to feel the pain

home again

poetry cascading
over a stony heart
gently grinds it
smooth

the rhythm stops
it's a red flag

word murmurations
have disconnected
flown the coup
and scattered
in the wind

pretty birds
pretty birds
fly home again

Segregation

The bus is full except for a seat at the back designated for minority dissenters, free thinkers and libertarians. A youth demands my seat, I stare straight ahead. The bus grinds through its gears as passengers glare or sneer.

Pagan Rose--Abc

ambrosia…
bosoms climb desire’s ecstasy,
flesh grinds, heated in juicy kisses--
lips mounting, nibbling
often pagan… quivering rose
succumbs to unbuttoned virility; wanton…
x-marking yearning’s zest!

The Cosmic Diner

And now she looks guarded, watched.
Why do we want to make love to complete strangers?
She's gone now. Forever.
There is the constant beg
For intimacy that grinds and binds us;
The end to all our means.
Even our meanness. When it pops out
Is a call for love.

Fear

It’s only in our mind
Dims vision of hope to move forward in His Light
Let faith grinds

Trust self and God
Face trials and storms with delight
And nod!

Today
Fight back your fright
Pray!

It’s only in the mind
Face trials and storms with delight
Pray!

Bleached Bones

The toll of this harshness grinds my bones which now lie bleached in the searing sun. Painful knowledge of ecstasy no longer mine. No greater sorrow exist than the intoxicating memory of you now no more to be. The void infinite and cold, this emptiness black in its totality.

A Brain Awakes

A brain awakes and sheds five hundred pounds of sky. The brain dreams- it opens a door walks through it, grinds beans, percolates coffee. It realizes it is way too early. Now it may or may not slip back into a tar pit on the far side of the moon.

What Makes a Heart

Am i to dream of you and me
What makes a heart not as it seems
It sits and grinds and weighs my mind
What makes a heart so hard to find
I know you keep its beats from me
What makes a heart like a disease
As time goes by you can't rewind
What makes a heart a waste of time

Many Strong Have Fallen

Delilah's pleasures
Her head lain in Samson's lap
Blind, he grinds around

Concubines' treasures
Solomon's Playboy Mansion
Kingdom of idols

Bathsheba's gestures
Rivers and blood David stole
Hid to no prophet

Stronger have fallen
Your resistance is futile
If you compromise

Ego Binds

Ego binds us in narrowness Veiling the throb of bliss Delusion is separateness We sense something amiss Once thoughts rest, we are free Head-heart with love agree In childlike, playful spree Earth life grinds Ego binds 09-October-2021 Quietus

Sorrow

Sorrow wears a face
As pain grinds in place

Bitter feels the touch
As sad spoil roughs much

Sorrow is sad deep
That suffers lost sleep

Gall can forfeit taste
As pain lays stern waste

Sorrow lumps old dirt
Drags even past hurts

February

Winter wears on my patience.
Dim dreary days – the grey
grinds and grates the spirit.
Sleet slushes the street.

I don’t even ask for spring.

Grant me a blizzard
or a biting freeze with inky skies,
just something
to lift the weariness
that has wormed into my mind
and paralyzes.
