   Workweek grinds to an end
     Holy Sabbath just around the bend

   Ring up the last sale, turn the key in the door
     Enter a dimension where your spirit can soar

Hi Gershon, I'm so glad Sabbath is such a looked forward to religious event in your week. We worship at home here, we take Communion at the table, etc. Years ago my late husband was a Baptist youth minister for three years. We find worshipping at home and Bible studies at home helps avoid, "church politics" so prevalent in some Christian churches. Anyway, love your writing. Shalom my good friend. ~

This was Sabbath many years ago. Today half the stores are open, but it is sure nice that some give their employees that day off. nice one.

I think that you are referring to the Christians' observance of the Sabbath. And of course, you are right... However, Jews observe Friday evening-night and all-day Saturday (into the early evening) as Sabbath, according to the Old Testament. And for those 3.5 million or so Jews in the world who are observant, the Sabbath described in this poem is as true today as it ever was. :) gw
