At first I was stunned.

Then, I started to run,

I knew the germs were in the air,

Dandelion puff clouds
tickle the air with their flossy flights.
Other weeds cannot fly
they are deeply rooted, their seeds
flop low.
Landscapers grind the ground grimly,
mowers grapple and growl
but the low gravity and the fluffy,
the wind-walking dandelions
sneeze up their fuzziness
and care not
as they ride the sky, their
high-flown wispy pedigrees
waving goodbye....

On thanksgiving day we’re eager to see
on dinner table smoked juicy turkey.
We find dismayed the bird gone,
and couldn’t get another one.
No way out, we’ve to turn vegan grimly.

Grateful for God’s blessings as the windfall,
no turkey but wine everybody’s call.
Apple pie, tomato fry
make unique dinner night fly.

The fires of fast fury
cannot finish the poetry of our tender touch,

will not wear away the warmth of our eyes,

The stubborn earth in it's shifts

Skeletal feet clickity clack,
a zombie child chewing bubble gum
giggles.

I have set a cackling witch at my door
but none are sacred tonight,
yet the cold hand of the dark
shivers all.

Candy is proffered,
horror masks nod, drool and moan,
bone handed gloves
grab recently caught Swedish Fish.

I shove the witches switch at them,
it's the only way
to save some treats
for the hungry ghost
that lives in my grimly grinning mouth....

pale and wane befit your name,
yes I named you
and not just that ordinary noun.
Come not sweeping grimly
but dressed for a wedding.
I call you my 'nightingale'
my little bird of sorrow and joy.
I watch you fly in the dark and light

simplistic sights
upon reality’s
rickety rufescent light .
Always left
lifelessly looming
beneath the brain’s
bashfully blurred
background
of benevolence.
Frankly flickering out
the faded flaws
whose firm
factual flames
of effectiveness
have by now
grimly grown
themselves
out of Life’s
limp lashes
of limelight .
Solemnly swearing
their silent
silken seas
of sorrow
into the
sulking sands
of insignificance ....
