I went with my son to Gibraltar
We went for a swim in the water
An errant propeller
Chopped off his old feller
So now I just call him my daughter...

There once were two giraffes from Gibraltar,
Saw a banquet and said, "do ya think that we oughta?"
Well as long as we're fast,
We'll have to make this our last,
As your groom's been waiting a day at the altar.

Like a Child
I think like a buddhist
but pray like a nun

I see like the mountain
but reach like the sun

I stand like Gibraltar
but rage like the sea

And love like a child
—reborn unto Thee

No Halter and Will Falter
No Halter and Will Falter

An ego likes leading you to the altar
And may be big as rock of Gibraltar
She had forgotten to wear her halter
Then both of them started to falter.

Dream By a Mountain
I must dream by a mountain
and knell by the bells
cliche after cliche
is my calling
From Gibraltar to the Pennines
I see the lemmings meet their master
But the fireside grows dim
the crows come home to roost
Playing a deadly Violin Concerto
by the ghost riders byeway
As a single tree props the World...

Premium Member Rabat Is a Black Pearl
Rabat is a black pearl
   Of cellophanic rainbow
Gazing upon waves that curl
And lick a shore little known.

Gibraltar is the dock
   Where it steadfast moors –
Enjoying sailboats that flock
   The Mediterranean course

Yet Barbary lions live
Not far, in the Rif Mountains –
Golden, assertive –
   Their kasbah amid the grass....

Gibraltar Crumbling
Oh, I loved her then
I placed her on high
Far above mortals
Where the air was thin
She handled it well

As the years passed
Love was still true
A stranger came
With ill intent

Then she stopped
Loving me
I could see

And my
Whole world

Fell

Gibraltar Crumbling
the wrath of death's hands
like the lash of sea
erodes the edges
of my weary soul
with its unseen force

i am battered
bruised once again
emotions stir
inside my core

rock to sand
gibraltar
crumbling down

i fight
against

time

Earth trembles in fear
Once-mighty nations
Beset by strong threats
See America,
Defender supreme

Devastated,
Alarmed to see
Their Gibraltar
Wounded, crumbling

USA,
Fighting blades
Of our foes

Treaties
Destroyed

War

Now I Am Afraid
even with an upturned boulder
sitting solid like Gibraltar
the blazing fire
has not been quenched
Too many pails
have been drenched,
punctured and patched
while drawing out water
to douse this blazing fire
from raging into a fiery sun
blistering the skin
scorching the minds
while intending
to obliterate the soul
making the man meaningless
because of your own dark souls...

Ventured, nothing gained in this rewarding game of love; a four letter word that

Premium Member Wind
I have blown by the rock of Gibraltar
and whispered to the waves of the sea
I have heard the dolphins laughter
 as I travel ever free

I have been to the highest mountain
Cause I journey far and wide
I am here in every season
 From me you cannot hide

In summer I will gently caress your face
But in winter I'll be fierce
I'll be there in spring's embrace
In autumn, the leaves I'll chase

The End of Islam
THE END OF ISLAM

On the bay beach at Belyounech
Just east of Tangier
From the old whaling Station
You can see Algeciras and Gibraltar
And there on the beach look up
And see the Rif of the Atlas
With beyond them ten thousand miles
Of Sahara sand and muezzins on minarets.
The northern horizon exudes
The smells of hot-dogs
And the sounds of Pink Floyd.
The south shore on the beach
Is the end of Islam....

The Rock
I depend on the rock of Gibraltar
No rock like this
I know
No rock, no rock, no rock
With waters flowing so
No rock with waters flowing row
No rock to stabilize my mind
No rock is all I have ever stumbled at
No rock to bring release
No rock to stabilize me
I depend on the rock of Gibraltar
My faith depends on him
There's no rock like him
There's no rock like the rock of Gibraltar
There's no rock, no rock, no rock like him...

I Do Not Speak French
pour it like the sun is dead.
but not
before shaking it well.

wait,
wat is je naam?
my father is half-Dutch.
stay with me, Martinique
(that name tag is lovely)
I have not been happy.

little umbrellas tickle
my imagination -
Gibraltar or Ithaca
or Room 143 beside yours.

is this safe, Martinique?
fifteen proof is my ceiling
but I do not care.

look,
your skin ring matches mine.
sorry -

Ik ben blij,
but I do not speak French....

Premium Member Dragons Lead Me To My Destiny
the insistent dragons are back
I watch them fly over Gibraltar hill.
Outside petunias are crowding toward the house
There is a castle waiting for me in the distance

I move closer to the lace curtains.
Wanting to get a better look at my destiny.
Find myself staring at the woman I will be one day.
She gives me a resigned look.

Teddy bear sidles closer, and I cuddle him.
My school work can wait.
The dragons have a message.
I strain to hear, to understand, to be the real me....
