Man's Folly

Your eyes stare at me
Wild beast beautiful and proud
Who so freely roamed
Regal Sumatran Tiger
God creates then man destroys

Do you love me? I can't tell
Threw me in a wishing well
"Wish you'd pull me out" I said
"Sure, I'll do that, when you're dead."

Albert's Folly

Particles in the void,
memories in the stream

Lovers in the mist
—time caught inbetween

Folly

i filled my me with lit-ra-ture
epic songs and pretty words
the most important thing i learned
was all the thoughts i'd never heard

Premium Member A Man More Patrician Than Not

A man, more patrician than not,
Of folly, he had quite a lot.
Stentorian voice,
But words of poor choice,
A sot, not a yacht, had he bought.

Premium Member cycle of folly

Repeat of the four-year refrain
Pits demented versus insane
We who are pundits
Say please call it quits
And would toast their obits with champagne

Premium Member Brolly Folly

Frank was an immaculate fellow.
His favourite colour was yellow.
He got caught in the rain
When catching a train
He had forgotten his yella umbrella

ULTIMATE FOLLY

A girl from the Folies Bergere
Manoeuvred her feathers with care.
One night, to a gasp,
They slipped from her grasp
And there she stood totally bare

Premium Member Berserk Folly

They call me crazy
but don’t understand my dialect;
Ferocious questions
with unattainable answers;
Focusing on themselves
they never stopped to simply listen.
Berserk folly .

Folly

Day and night, day and night
waiting for truth to come out
Day and night waiting
And one night truth came out,
out of the blue, to make the waiting
a fallacy, concealed in day and night.

My Folly

I like to talk
and a walk back
all balk to join

I like to think
I then ink thoughts
All blink to read

Irresponsibly jolly
Afternoon of folly
Amusement found
Festivities abound
Lightheaded foolishness
Bouts of happiness
Joyous merriment
Heart’s glorious alignment

Recording Our Folly

What is the human
perception of time

If measurement stops
and clocks will not chime

Seconds to minutes,
minutes to hours

Pendulum still
—Big Ben disempowered

Like a warm breeze
She can please me
and tease my heart

Yes, from the start
Her strange art was
two part told lies

Pool like in size
When she tries to
those eyes can fool

The Folly of Love

FOLLY OF LOVE

The heart that loves..
loves to hurt..
in so doing misses-
ever so much
the one beloved..
that its folly to love..
one who is not available..
or as they say one not ready-
to be loved ..and love back

This Day's General Folly

Stumbling down from out which Age
In keeping its balance
Mentally, had stood for respect
Emotionally, restraint

This day's general folly.
Yielded to, either side
"Do what you like's" mantra. Ensures
God's "doomed to fall" complaint.

Folly of Chance

A half opened gate beckons to me
As I mused the folly of chance
Is it there to lure me teasingly?
 Or merely some circumstance
Shall I choose to follow the lead
Inviting me hither and yon
And finally agree to concede
or stay on the path I am on

Folly

i found Venus
de Milo's
arms
laying next
to van
Gogh's
earlobe

her fingers were
signing something
in Italian while
he frenchly
drank another
bottle of la
fee verte

she harmlessly
was miles
away
listening to deaf
Beethoven
conduct his 9th
symphony

A Fool’s Folly
by M. Griswold
01042021

Walking the shadowed halls of a murky, darkened mind.
I search the many doorways of memories only to find,
my folly with life’s time granted has been ill spent well.
But lo’, the inheritance of a fool leaves nothing to tell.

Premium Member Pursuing Madness, Folly

Twice around the world he sped
       pursuing madness, folly
   Unrequited lover he
       denied, his desperate volley

   Once ignited, passions roused
       flames obey no limits
    Wildfires scorch the tender earth
       unbridled desire's afterbirth
