Humming Bird

... soft buzz flowers heard,

               gold blur flitted by, hovered,

                             yellow humming bird...

At the centre of a viscous net The sly spider waited alert A fly flitted closer on buzzing wings Was caught in the labyrinthine strings Alas, wound round in ductile rings

Premium Member Dancing Delicate Dragonfly Dee

Dancing delicate dragonfly faerie named Dee
Flitted in and out of a diamond-shaped tree
We elves watched her fly off as far as we could see.
She was a darling dainty dragonfly faerie, little Dee.

Premium Member your colors are exactly like me

Ethyl an elusive mermaid and queen of the see
Met a similar designed butterfly named Laura Lee
You look familiar, your colors are exactly like me
Butterfly did not reply, merely, flitted out over the sea.

Premium Member hillbillies dairy cow

Hillbillies got a dairy cow and trained it up right
It mooed and bellowed all through the first night
Drank some moonshine and did a crazy petootsie dance.
So silly and funny, the fireflies flitted and flew as if in a trance.

Premium Member potato salad ghost

A ghost-flitted out of the refrigerator today.
He smelled like potato salad.
Had he been eating it?
Or was he born in it?
The ghost looked right at me.
Gave me a diabolical smile.
For the first time ever.
I was terrified by the smell of potato salad.

A vacant mind in blooming garden

Ashy Prinia pair
Flitted across my garden
Catching something here and there

Yellow Portulaca flowers looked brighter
Once they saw this
Ashy Prinia pair

A lone lotus
Swayed as the gentle birds
Flitted across my garden

I wondered how
They stayed happy while
Catching something here and there

Premium Member Almost Fall

Cobalt blue roped clouds lie 'pon the sky
Reach down and touch the distant trees
One lone butterfly flitted by
On the cool August's morn's breeze

August will soon be ending
September will parade upon the scene
Life will mellow in the cool beginning
That season's change will forthwright bring

The Wedding Rehearsal

She and mirror had a chat
dreams and hopes flitted past
vainly smiled and said goodbye
brides here are fully covered
Veiled for life...

Afroze Ali

(Some brides from remote parts of India are covered head to toe, red veils reaching their chins and they are supposed to veil themselves every time a man is around. Ridiculous, but true)

Butterfly Thought

There was something I wanted to say to you.
The thought of it came
Like a butterfly in a garden –
Seeking a bloom
It flitted about,
Then alighted momentarily
Before being distracted
By a neighboring flower.
Departing unsated
It followed the wind
To the next thought garden.
There is something I want to say to you.
What is it?
What is it?

Premium Member Lattice of Essence

The seamless sky called life glowed in serene beauty
In time’s drifting waft flitted a butterfly free
On its wings I painted lattice of my essence
Flowers in my garden bloomed all seasons for me.

Premium Member sunflower faerie

sunflower faerie appeared in a Kansas field
in the middle of sunflowers with an unusual yield
She flitted between the faces of these large flowers
Giving them a teensy bit of her sunflower powers

The sunflowers she landed on now had a face
And mouths that moved, but they could not chase
We want legs now said one with her new mouth
Sunflower faerie laughed and promptly flew south.

The Sunflower

Paradise garden, green and lush. Berries a sharp red growing on a bush.
Translucent petals fall like the autumn leaves, golden with a dash of hazel.
Immense beauty beyond belief.

A flitted ray of yellow beams down so bright. Elegant, light standing tall, each petal a honey-suckled yellow. The bird of paradise standing tall, for all to see. Her beauty speaks to me. Singing in the morning hour.

Premium Member Just One More Question

acorn faerie flitted out of the way of the giant tail.
in for a landing came a flying squirrel with a sail.
where did you come from? Asked Cousin Dale.
thought you were in the hoosegow, the county jail.

interested acorn faerie is enthralled. A jailbird!
she has never met one, or gotten to have a word.
she quizzes the squirrel the way cottage cheese follows a curd.
ignoring their protests, as if they have never been heard.

Premium Member Blue Butterfly

After her mother passed a blue butterfly stopped by
Flitted among her zinnias, landed on a yellow one
Rhonda paid attention, it seemed to be important
Was this Mom telling her everything would be okay?

A few year later Rhonda’s best friend Frank passed.
She did not know if she could go on without him
Her doctor prescribed antidepressants, and this seemed to help.
A blue butterfly landed on Rhonda’s shoulder at his funeral.
This helped.

Premium Member Frost and Her Sisters

She appeared in the middle of a snowflake
Most could not see her, but the fey always can
She flitted around the white snow sprinkling pixie dust
It began to glisten, as twinkly as fifties sequins
Where were her sisters? Had they not arrived yet?
They were along shortly, sprinkling around white glitter
When they were finished the snow had a blueish tint
It was sparkling as prettily as it ever could
The faeries were finished until the next snowfall

How beautiful you were
Your love flourished and did transfer
To us upon with ambitious dreams
And love for each did stir.

You flitted about, to each one nourishing
Not in discouraging but, encouraging.

To say, “It’s going to be all right.”
And the future is in your sight.”

With God's grace and never His absence.
You climbed the stairs into the arms with guidance.
And in His favor manifest love spellbind
Comfort to those you had left behind.

Premium Member The Dawn In Blue

Dawn rose on blue misty mountains, and matching blue sky;
And it wasn't very long, before bluebells caught my eye.
The bluejays sang sunshine, all around the morning glory,
As blue butterflies flitted about, the peacock territory!

Blue dragonflies crept on leaves, off to an odd somewhere,
The world was covered in blue, although hardly yet aware!
Coneflowers and grape hyacinths, danced to forget-me-nots,
And sun turned slowly golden, as if nature's afterthoughts.

Premium Member Pretty Dhramned Mean

My relatives came in droves to stare at my dead body.
And it ticked me off.
I flitted and fluttered and tried to signal them with a cough.

The only one who saw me was my little granddaughter Ashley.
Age two.
A baby who lived far away,
Who when I was alive I barely knew.

I thought it was strange they could come to my house now.
When I could no longer cuddle them or laugh or be seen
Just a dead body.
To stare at
I truly think this was pretty dhrammned mean.

Premium Member Twinkle Faerie and Young Elf Jerry

Effervescent twinkle faerie
Flitted through the roses merry
Watched closely by elf named Jerry
a pretty day
Jerry was in love with faerie
carried away

Wise grandma garden watched the scene
She was being honest, not mean
In no way receptive or keen
She warned faerie
Young elf Jerry was pretty green
day was airy

Twinkle fairy had heart of sweet
Attitude difficult to beat
She brought Jerry a little treat
His own girl
With elf curl
Kindest one he could ever meet
