Alliteration is awesome;
thanks to thee
it effortlessly erases evidence
of spoonerisms.

Spooky.

February 29, 2016
Written by Gail DeBole

A man born into a world of scams
Had a father adept at flim-flam.
He lived by what he was taught
Until the day he was caught
By police who out-flimflammed his scam....

Naive Guillotine

I once knew a poet named Balveen
Whose heart was not a touchscreen
Confused when she read some barbs
Until she was shot by shards
She rued at their naive guillotine

You Know I Have a Wife
i married my wife
february 29 2020, we
don't practice those pagan ritual that you
people have.
we love one another.
see ya'll give word to
certain things creating problems.
I married my wife on this day and
we celebrate our time together
using this restriction to be creative
I loves this woman's mind

Premium Member The Ulterior Motives Behind Dusting
The top shelves required dusting, so
I looked for my stool high and low.
			No luck--but a chair
			would do. Then up there
I cleaned that top shelf. It did glow.

My cleaning cloths fell to the floor.
I had to get down to find more.
			I dressed as I did
			because my man Sid
was watching. Life's never a bore!

Premium Member Good, Bad, Special
My family thinks I am good-
as matriarch- it's understood
     I keep us all tight-
     with love, we unite-
keep bonds fortified as we should.

However, at times I am bad-
for when I feel down- to be glad-
     I need my own space
     seclusion embrace
to work out whatever is sad.

My special- a pastime, so fine-
I try to write poems that shine
     so readers can see
     the thoughts that make me
a builder of words that define.

Aborigines On Horseback
Aborigines on horseback wading
Addicted to the wilderness they trek.
Through still waters where crocodiles are king,
Their horses chomping at the bits, stiffed neck.
Oh land, kangaroos and wombats grazing.
They seek thrills and thrive on adventures deck.
Two men fearlessly explore nature’s hand.
Knowing in their hearts, their future is grand.

Mingling With Pusywillows
As Mother Nature strolls across her lands,
Remembering the pusywillows there.
Bedecked with ferns and roses in her hands.
She visits them while deeply breathing air.
Their unique scent infusion; she commands.
Those puffs of silky gray on branches bear
A sign to all that warmer days are near.
That springtime floras, rosebuds, shall appear.

Fear
of
flying—
facing fear
he boarded the plane
which some minutes after takeoff
violently shook and then plummeted toward earth—
him being sad, not over his impending death, but having just won the lottery

The last line of 21 syllables will appear as more than one line on mobile devices and smaller screens, but it actually fits on one line on larger screens. Ah, the Romanesque broccoli spirals of the fibonacci sequence!...
