No Redemption

I lay with no redemption upon broken strings of empty promises...

glib smiles and handshakes
empty promises and lies
you offer false hope
evil intent is hidden
your true soul is well disguised

Empty Promises

Empty promises,

Tell me what I want to hear

But, i'm on defense!!!!

Indifference

To inflict on tomorrow,
the empty promises of fate

The will to reign indifferent
—the devil’s cruelest form of hate

Empty Promises

Nigerian graduates,
Suffering because of unemployment,
believing in government’s empty promises.
A meaningless hope on a janus-faced entity
governing sadistically.

Careless Lies

Careless Lies

You with your careless lies
Your lying eyes
The quick disguise

You with your empty promises
Your lack of remorse
The smirk of a hawk

You in your downfall
Your addiction
The apt prediction

Premium Member Sacred Journey

Unfulfilled misguided sweet dreams
Empty promises bursting at the seems
Relentless misgivings turbulent love
Once interwoven like a silken glove
Lost but not forgotten always treasured
Symbolic reveries coiled hearts measured

Oglala Lament: December, 1890

We cannot eat lies
or feast on empty promises

No more than the bison,
starving in the desert sand

We cannot clothe our children
as we run from the Wasichus

Our teepees torn and freezing
amidst the winter snows

(Pine Ridge South Dakota: Late September, 1994)

Love Toxic

Just say it's over
Wave a banner to the stars
Say good bye to what was ours
For the sun has set & the night beset
Our love in hues of gray
Your heart strayed from mine
My love for you fell into crimson wine
Intoxicating my senses
With empty promises & hollow kisses.

Darkness Sux

Darkness sucks
With empty promises of peace
It’s empty shadows lie
To souls of poets that had to die
It hides in lonely shadowed why
Empathic askers staring cry
Reality gets hard to hold
Painful yesterdays pile high
For letting go is easy done
Until you know
Tomorrow’s gone

STRANGERS

We are all strangers here
Streetlights glow
Against a canvas of night
Solitude in a crowded frame
The underlying current of shame
Silent whispers across the counter
Unheard tales of the city's hum
Coffee cups, half-empty promises
Half-full hypocrisies
The long shadow of the unseen.

Empty Promises

You promised me the world, but only gave me the slums.

You promised me the moon and stars, but only gave me ashes.

You promised me happiness, but only gave me heartache.

You promised me love, but only gave me pain.

And when you promised to always be true,
I didn't realize it was only to you.

Resonance of the Heart

Be still my beating heart
Resonating off hollow halls

Be quiet my playful passion
Teasing empty promises

Behave my subdued hope
For dreams are made of dust

Be gone my lurid fantasies
For lust is the flavour of hate

Stop. My bleeding heart
Dripping sentiment unwelcome.

Rebecca .A. Huxley

Pastels

Pastel painting
Our world to grey
Twisting and turning
Through another day

Passing through the shadows
Of words unspoken
Speaking empty promises
Made to be broken

Living through
Another day
Of our society's
Moral decay

Is this all that life
Could really be
Freedom of man
Are we truly free?

What Is Love?

what is love to you
a term to sign with your name
a hollow box of empty promises
a packet in your purse to smooth over
your sharp comments
who do you love
other than yourself
in reply to everything you weave a story
of yourself
love is the selfless giving
not expecting anything in return
and rejoicing
at reciprocation

Premium Member Stolen Truths

Faded maps,
Empty promises,
A king's cruel decree.

Shadows lengthen,
On shattered temples, dust
Chanting, a false saviour.

Twisted truths,
A poisoned well,
Power's hungry grip.

Ancient stones whisper,
Secrets buried, buried deep,
We must find our light.

A single spark,
Igniting the heart,
Shattering the chains.

Wasted Space

Once I was someone
A young girl with hopes and aspirations
I became a wife, a mother needed and loved.
My purpose was clear,
Now I have achieved my destination
And there is nothing left
 only darkness remains
The road ahead is filled with empty promises
And long forgotten smiles
Discarded and useless
A wasted space
I am no more

Midas

Purple flames>>Violet flames
A voiceless name///The sting of shame...
Echoes through hollow hearts[[[]]]
Of beggars, liars, gypsies & thieves
Seduced by Midas & his touch
How soon does everything turn to rust???
Allured by empty promises of fame & adoration
Never questioning the $ for such a vice,,,
Never stopping to think twice((()))

Me and You

Bitter love
eaten alive
crimson tears
tickle you
bother me

Gone away
mindful acts
frozen flaws
absorb you
dissemble me

Lost motive
absent faith
forgotten reason
passes you
touches me

Written law
biting penalty
shaking fear
releases you
threatens me

Broken dreams
empty promises
aching need
surrounds you
surrounds me

Emptiness Gone

Emptiness, lies.
It just fills the skies that are my mind.
Fears and loneliness,
Followed by tears of sadness.
The clouds part,
You have touched my heart.
Emptiness fades to black,
Never to come back.
Lies are no more,
Nor is loneliness.
Fears have passed,
And tears have dried.
No more empty promises,
No more regrets,
Just you and me.

Empty Promises

isn't it funny how we say
'there's always tomorrow!'

when every moment of our life ahead
is like dice tossed on a board

what are the odds we live?
there is anticipation in every moment

yet we make plans for years later
we break hearts like we'd live forever

we hold back from making amends
we promise ourselves we'll be better tomorrow

Premium Member Catfished

The polling centers and their quillz,
that dating app and it’s whisker bait;
Built for ease and practicality;
Those disenfranchised left envious
seek being heard, seek being seen;
A plethora of marginalized prey;
Bait and switch with empty promises,
the meek never had a chance;
Yet another nasty Catfish left
without a coneflower of absolution.
