eagles circled my yard today
they looked high up, quite far away
or were they buzzards? It is hard to know
their graceful flying was quite a show.
Back from failed hunt she
sees young cat at rest
in nest with eaglets.
First lethal fears rouse
cat's instinct to jump ~
she learns eagles fly.
The eyrie is miles away;
but egg shells lie in my yard.
Eagles? not your ordinary birdbrain.

Eagles stare bleakly
Icy, frozen lake hides food --
Help from human hands
For the Bald Eagles contest -- an interpretation of the photograph
Whilst she amazes
Seasonal changes can turn

Some species succumb
Amongst them are Bald Eagles
Her Winter's orphans ~*~
The canyon is grand--
A work of God's hand.
