The Dumpster of Life
Down in the dumpster
Life is so unfair
Why the haves gotta
Look down on the nots

There's enough pies for everyone
To take a piece and survive...

It’s not that it’s anything new,
It's all "I" and "Me", no "Us/You".
If we nominate Trump,
GOP’s in the dump;
I'll keep saying it until I'm blue....

A Barren Land
In her dumpster fades away
    posy of love-struck feelings.
I plucked from my heart's garden,
           now a barren land.

there is nothing like the taste of a first kiss
the sweet smell of bubble gum while still in the mouth
while hiding behind a trash dumpster in kindergarten at recess
kissing the boy of your dreams at age five...

recess was more than play

for two youngsters in love

hiding behind the dumpster was the place to stay

everyday there's where we'd go

for one more kiss

and a little less recess

Rats argue with the seagulls.
An “eau de low tide” scent rides the fog.
As feral cats hiss at the sunrise
leashed dogs do their business
“tricks for treats” traitors.
The sound of traffic signals….”LAST CALL!”

Grocery Poem Xii
A gray and white cat sidles up
	against the splotchy green dumpster
and meows despite himself.

The plastic lid slams hard at the end
of another long shift. It sounds desperately final
like the North Springs station, or the highest note

of a violin....

Dumpster Diving
I threw out all of you
smashed all the CD's
trashed every sweatshirt that smelled of you
ripped up diary pages of admiration
letters and pictures burnt
only ashes that can't say 'I love you' anymore
and then you wanted me back
but I'm not going dumpster diving...

I Was Going To Write You a Poem
I was going to write you a poem
but my cat lay in the road.
I scraped up his remains with a shovel
paced them in a plastic bag,
dropped it into a dumpster.

I was going to write you a poem
but in my fridge is a half can of cat food,
with a cellophane lid,
useless and taking up space....

Poverty
Poverty: a dumpster lid for a dinner table
Offensive to people who think your unstable
Vagabonds panhandle coins from the giver
Evenings confined to a bag by the river
Recycling of cans for a smoke or a beer
Thankful for warmth in a cold, rainy year;
You too,can make this scene;lose your job and lose your green!...

At the playground today
I saw the park manager smoking a cigar,
and after a few puffs she squashed it out on the pavement,
"You know the dumpster really ain't that far!"
I was about to yell but then realized
I was feeding the ducklings (of all possible things),
while my baby what left
neglected and weeping on the swings!...

Watching the protests grow larger and stronger
burying hope in the stench of a dumpster

   Hearing speakers extol baby-burners
they themselves as unhinged as murderers

What has America come to when human butchery is praised
with social media as their church, on such values our youth is now raised...

The Poet
The Poet was wasted.
Like leftovers after lunch.

A plate of wilted salad.
A half eaten burger, soggy with ketchup.
A cold limp fry.

He wanted someone to pay attention.
Savor, digest and appreciate him.

But they spat him out,
cleared the plates,
and threw him in the dumpster.

Unfortunate Sin As Tragedy Falls
Falls into........
a wall
a stall
iniquity
the light
a sworm of bullets
a willing hand of love
water as ones blood
a battle within between two Gods
a bat
a fist
a steelpipe
a broken bottle
a hand gun
a dumpster
as a person falls in and out
of darkness that enlightens
a grace from above
guarenteed life of the unfortunate...

Dumpster Dive
Meat and potatoes grind
In the dimly lit alleys of my mind
Under the lobster tails and lemon rind
Inside dumpsters filled with refuse enshrined
Childhood demons loosely confined
Are darkly intertwined
With my dark shadow well defined
Tagging wall with phrases unkind
They are always there to remind
Memories I’ve tried to leave behind...

Premium Member Boom Boom Boom
BOOM BOOM BOOM!
Sounds like bombs
Not mere fireworks
Joe said it was close

It was six p.m. on Tuesday
The week before 4th of July
The dogs were frightened
The cat is hiding now

We watched the video
It is gray scale, and fuzzy
Young male gets out of car
Throws two cherry bombs into our dumpster

Walks to the mail box
Where our video camera is aimed
BOOM!
Blowing it up...

Spring cleaning my closet
The old toys are gone,
No room now
The age of playing done;
Now on the way outside
Out by the dumpster,
I caught someone’s eye,
A little boy or girls mother;
She looked at me and smiled
Said “Can I take those off your hands?
They are in perfect shape
For my kids they would be grand!”
I handed them over..
no questions asked
better with a child
than in the trash...

Full Attention
the eyes are mesmerized
they stare and stare
to look and to see...
	the ears hear
the oncoming sounds
drumming into your pores

filling your minds with trash
	the dumpster is full,
but indulging in more
as volume is
all the way up

seeing and hearing
murdering, killing,
disasters, tragedies,
catasrophies, outrages,
fights, guns,
war, stupidity,drugs

do you blame your mind for how
it acts,

or are you taught how?...

Creepster Hallows Eve guy was prowling around
Sliding into corners all over Tinsel Town
Some of the kinder homeless gave him a wink
One of the more generous offered him a drink

I cannot imbibe, he told the more-than-generous guy
Creepsters are not allowed beverages, I do not know why
He slithered under a dumpster and held his breath for a day.
They found his happy garbage-breathing corpse that very next Tuesday....

The Cat's Litter
James and Peter
Found a messed up cat litter
Close by at Peter's

A cat is amiss
The litter smells of cat's piss
The missus remiss

The miss is too slow
To clean the cat's messy show
The cat meows in woe

The cat runs away
A missus tries to find it
Away the cat goes

This goes to now show
That the house is a dumpster
And smells of cat's piss

James caught the cat now
As it tries to get away
The miss is happy...

His boredom conquered discipline again; a bridge thus built has no one else to blame. A blazing dumpster fire bloomed from within, like breathing, birth unnoticed when it came. Audacious that a button made of cork might detonate and on his soul impinge. Believe not blood, instead apply the torque, and so begins another drinking binge.
