there gold
to drop off a load
they go city and town
no one around
need to eat and sleep
so they hop on a cot
at nearest

Light Verse
U don’t care
About my beach walks
But those I took in hell.
U don’t care
For sunny days
Just that I’m not well.
Funny How we
Wish us bad
It’s a better story
To tell.

Do you ever wonder what you forgot today
Happens all my waking hours, starting to decay
Is there an anti-aging pill
That cures all of life's ills
Important body parts drop off every day

I’m out here in the hot, summer sun all day long
Praying for the clouds to come by and drop off some rain.
I don’t think the sweltering heat is where I belong.
I’d rather be in the middle of a forest in Maine.

If we run out of gas, can we fill up somewhere
A station for such and to drop off our old foul air
Might have trouble hiring
Coz of the hazy o-ring
Something to consider as we age, c'est la guerre!

I had to leave him
at the adoption drop-off
of the place I’d entrusted
with his safe-keeping. . .
his mournful howl followed me
as I exited the door

Different guys.
Different heartaches.
Same feeling.
Same ending.
Under the covers.
Under these waves.
Over the drop off.
Over these feelings.
Bad lovers.
Bad decisions.
Good feelings lost.
Good things dont last.

It started with a feeling,
In the corner of my eye,
A little drop off moisture
Before I start to cry.
The tears just won't stop flowing,
I know the reason why,
A year ago this very day
We said our last goodbye.
Miss you always.

layers of a personality
apple cheeked marionettes
acting evil and good
soothing smooth smiles
and blood curdling stares
sometimes the arms drop off
with clattering noise
clothing will tear
or succumb to linen rot
but heroes and villains shine only at night
so ordinary in the light

Its quest is over.
Life's. Wholesome-faced.
At this drop off point, a world's
Sea-washed. Effaced.
Shackled by which search, a slave's
Profitless, for coin
Proved it, toward more and more
Becoming joy-rich
Now breathing freer, will ditch
What for too long chafed
Of self deceit, to the winds.
Sharpest thought-cleansing

In my mind skies can be blue
thoughts can swirl and whirl
and take an unexpected turn
feeling like I've consumed a witch's brew
Just when I think there'll be no end
I find the perfect spot under the sun
to drop off what feels like a megaton
and soak in that sunshine before I call a friend

Quiet like the sea that winks at you with caution
Until waves wash your balance in a soaking totter
Exertion in a rooted footing to snatch breaths of salty air
Steadiness holding/healing a body from the drop off of loss
To watch the setting sun, its lilt and tow of memory
careening beneath waves

Oh my god, heard a bang
Turned on the light, went downstairs
Saw a figure in the dark gloominess of a room
A knife for cutting food
In his left-hand made o’ bone
Whispers into the left ear of me
Crucify me
Crucify me
I was frozen
In my tracks
To not move to the station
And drop off my passengers
What I saw
Or heard of me
Or witnessed of me
Is now in my mind

A sigh--
as strong as the
rivers' flow,
where dark pain
forces the flower.
Oh! To sleep through sound
and uncrossed
dreams.
My mind groans
for the woman
just beneath
the great horn.
The years drop off sharply
into the river,
just beneath the bridge--
to flow back to the sea.
To evaporate and come at us from a different angle...
Next time?

The owl is having a birthday. Big Whoop I say.
It’s not like he’ll have it in the wake of day.
He always has his parties when I am trying to sleep.
Awakening me at the moment my slumber is deep.
Why must he be nocturnal? I ask the gods.
My head is already sleepy, I feel a few big nods.
I drop off to sleep hoping he won’t wake me tonight.
Of course he does – each time giving me a bigger fright.

Many years ago,
I use to wake and say
Lets get up early in the morning,
On a chilly Christmas day
Now the years have faded,
Older I became
Yet somehow in this cycle,
Year after year is the same
Running round in circles,
Shopping throughout town
Hurrying to drop off,
Gifts all around
Then it really happens,
Christmas is finally here
But oh dear God I'd forgotten,
It will return next year...

I do not know?
Autum has come to the land,
Only barren trees will stand.
Red, brown, russet and gold
Colors so beautiful, bright and bold.
Leaves gently drop off the tree,
One by one gathering around my knee.
They drop silently making no sound,
Gathering on the ground all around.
The colors of autum now all gone,
For summer days we will long.
Winter is about to drop her coat,
The land will become desolate and remote.

SLEEP
at age 85
i sleep often and well
little reason needed
except the need for
what i do best sleep
they say
that one in the 80s has
less need of sleep
i tell this to myself often
as i drop off
at age 85
i don’t need a lot of sleep
i can dream
most any time I wish
with eyes wide open
deep sleep
can transport one into another world
according to my wife
i’m gone all day long
eyes wide open

I wish I could dance forever,
And then I would stop never.
Like the light on my window sill,
Dance to the end in a frock with a frill.
Dance like a graceful peacock in the rain,
I'll be as proud a lion is of his mane.
Dance, dance, dance till my feet drop off,
All my sorrow I will laugh off.
All my pain I will forget,
For when I dance I do feel great.
I wish I could dance forever and ever,
And then I would stop never.......

it’s raining leaves - hs
some call it the fall
keats wrote of it as autumn
but he was english
maybe english trees
keep their leaves throughout the year
saving lots of work
as the leaves turn red
they are beautiful of course
but then they drop off
cleared them yesterday
but after a windy night
more have fluttered down
yet another pile to sweep
it’s enough to make me weep
