Premium Member The Vestibule

I feel like,
Laying my tears to sleep,
Letting the liquid,
Dispense and weep:
As a river,
Meets estuary;
And the water,
Producing sea –

Nonsense

NONSENSE
Are you understanding the meaning of nonsense
Life is the realm of the future tense
We can't escape our own time to dispense
Let's defend for our worst offense

Angola Silence  (Renku)

In a silent mood
Await the pure white horses
To draw the carriage

Someday comes my turn
Laid amidst the other graves
Angola will reign

Carry a brother
Dispense final dignity
In this place of pain

The Valley

The Valley
by Lanier Thomas

One
by one
I saw them
leave because they
Were hurting too much
For them to wish to stay
Yet I found God was willing
To dispense His mercy and love
While carrying me through the valley
Guarding and healing me with gentle glove.

Needless

In day
       in which we dispense
       worldly needs,
       we will satisfy our desires
       with little ... little is what
       we need to live ...
       But for that fundamental is to be
       alive ... we can't
       abandon the fight for life ...!

Premium Member Just Desserts

Soup, salad – appetizers
  Cookies, cake – desserts

Appetizers to whet our appetites
   Desserts to satisfy them

But what if we served desserts first
  After the entrée, would we still
    have room for appetizers…

Dispense with the appetizers
  There’s always room for desserts

Premium Member Guiding Star O'Er Washington

I pray a bright star will shine in the air

    O'er Washington to guide some wise men there

        Bringing gifts of commonsense

            And harmony to dispense

                To a nation that is in disrepair

The Searchers

Looking for lunch in all the wrong places,
Unloved, hungry eyes set in introverted faces,
There’s spirit there but only traces,
Hunting for signs of love from all races,
God uses people to dispense His Graces.
Where am I among these human cases?
One small step may be the basis,
Of many far reaching paces.
...Dare I.. ?

Two Cents

There are many who may take offense
At advice you may choose to dispense.
You won’t get in a rut
If you keep your mouth shut
So resentment won’t therefore commence.

For it’s best, when the moment presents,
That you keep yourself up on that fence;
Though if you’d been consulted
None would be insulted
By offering up your two cents.

Breaking Bread

For the presence of
Self-fulfilling wisdom
And the sake of all that
Which is Holy
The Dear Lord break's Bread
With his disciples'
Some the Holy of the most Holy
Some the Highest of the High
To refurbish the coverant
Once again
That is in order to Resurrect
Jesus
The son of man
Then dispense his conciliatory
Wine as a tributs

Just Because I Said I Do

~~~
Ostracized
forsaken place
these bars of time
no saving grace
from whence I came
a fence I face
around and round
no end in chase
Just because
I said I do
I'm seldom excused
when postage due
No-one to share
I stand alone
to cheat despair
I scratch this poem
of matters fact
it finds no home
amid your care
dispense of drone
Tree of Love
Love is the most common
Tree of devotion
And its' leaves' are
tumbling down
It steams' from the mirage
And then dispense
At that time of ingestion
Falling,
Forwardly to the ground
And yes, their
Magnificence will be two-fold
To be blessed and
Bestowed upon within the
Govern domain of God
To the dear delight of
The Magisty,
The King
Penny Ante
No longer will a penny
For your thoughts make any sense,
Since there will not be any
Pennies left to thus dispense.
A penny saved, a penny earned –
Advice that represents
Frugality cannot be learned
Without the evidence.
From heaven, pennies won’t rain down
And that’s a consequence
Of a would-be king who lacks a crown
But rules at our expense.
Made In China
If something’s made in China,
The quality might be
Below what we would once expect,
I think we’d all agree.
What really drives me crazy is
When they include instructions,
The grammar and the spelling sometimes
Need some introductions.
It shouldn’t be that hard to find
Transcribers to dispense
The how-to-guide translations
That, in English, make some sense.
Who Knew
Years ago, when men wore hats
And women heels instead of flats,
Who knew unsaturated fats
Were somehow kind of healthy?
When TV’s were in black and white
And folks dressed up before a flight,
Who knew that every deep-fried bite
Would need us to be stealthy?
When ice cream cones cost 15 cents
And pronouns didn’t cause offense,
Who knew with rules some could dispense
And wind up smug and wealthy?
Live,Look,Learn
Kids learn by living,
Learning is through living,
Learning is for life,through life,
 And throughout life.
Train them to look up to and respect,
Train them to be fair and unselfish,
Let them respect authority,
Dispense  discipline in the right measure,
And with considered consistence,
Let them have reasonable expectations,
Of themselves but aim high,
They should be taught,
The way they should go,
And they will be well.
The In-Between
And what is this?
This to which I refuse to admit.
Uncertainty.
Need of clarity.
Dispense my life from this
Which is
Unnecessary.
Hate.
Love.
And the line where these two meet.
Me.
Stuck.
In-between.
Uneasy.
Cannot breath.
But you,
Cannot
And do not have the authority,
The right
To question.
Let me be.
And you shall see,
Why you have led me to this
Which is
The silence of
The in-between.
Test
Exam day. I stare
at the students who pour
thoughts out onto paper,
racing before the dreaded words
“pencils down”.
I dread
the grading, the long
hours when the writing blurs
and everybody in the room gets crankier
because we are still
grading, wading
through filled pages like through deep
mud. I hate that
it makes me think
unkind thoughts, that I am forced
to dispense judgment instead of
knowledge
and love.
The Modern Super Hero
Made up super heroes we're taught to love
Made up archetypes we watch get rough
We cheer on as they dispense justice
We've stopped questioning why we idolize this
As our heroes have become more brutal and more violent
We've become more detached and less present
We're passing our degradation of what it means to be a hero to the next generation
They won't be impressed until it's more violent, bloodier, the next super brutal sensation
Premium Member Compost, Anyone
Compost, Anyone Miracle Man September 17, 2023 Most of what comes from congress is nonsense, so their approval poll numbers they don’t dispense. They couldn’t agree on the winds direction, and both parties are masters at blame deflection. In agreeing on a budget they’re always unsure, so they create this mountain of cow manure. Always without the use of a Heifer or Steer, but they quickly testify to being sincere.
Premium Member Watched It
Watched it, well not IT, not the balloon
with a clown attached to it.
Watched a true story better left alone
I’m all alone
I must dispense the dust cover of fear
My pillow is mauled
in toss and turn
My hand must not rest over the cliff
I wake up into full sunshine
as if
all the light that has ever been
hits me on the chin and cheeks
Funny how the dark tucks you in
and the dawn pretends
you’ve never been
and never will
be frightened again
