two bodies shudder
locked arms and legs disengage…
wild wind rushes in
agitated the tent flees
they took an early shower

Hugs

Hugs can be like mangoes
sometimes difficult to disengage.
Some are so worth the effort
others are just fair to middling.
Next, compare cling peaches.

An Observation

“It would seem to me that good share of our politicians appear to have their mouths open so much that their brains disengage and their ears will no longer work”.

Premium Member My Deepest Gratitude

It's a lonely life
  staring at a blank page
Without my wonderful wife
  I fear I'd disengage

It would be a thankless task
to write without a supportive group
My deepest gratitude and appreciation

Premium Member Gist

Listen to poem:
Lurking in the murky mist
a glimmer lies peripheral.
Invisible to the blaze
of stare-eyed gaze,
uncertainty is determinant.

The gist is missed
until you look away,
disengage, and let
the quagmire ooze
belch its quintessence.

Disengage

I can feel the tearing,
coming apart again,
stitches dropped
carelessly.

Weakened by wear,
too thin, now,
to hold
together.

Entropy at work,
forces of nature
slowly eroding
integrity.

Too thin to hold
together, we grow
apart again
carefully.

Premium Member Texting Treats

Trying to invent one word poems
Called "texting treats."
Poems of five words or more?
Oh, no !
Are far too hard for us to read!
Itt's speed we need.

A reflection of this electronic age.
Short poems, short replies.
From the beauty of the English
language.....
We, hereby run in retreat.
And joyfully disengage our heritage!

Premium Member Let Go

Look for truth in all you do
be accountable for your words
look at your actions and reactions
speak the truth.

Be kind be generous in nature
be filled with compassion
disengage from all battles
look before you take that leap.

See the good in others
stay cool- stay honest- stay calm
forgive others no matter what
do your best in letting it go.

Premium Member The Candle Flickers

The candle flickers, the sunlight fades,
Nearly extinguished, up high the flame leaps
As brilliant rays pierce my heart's horizon
Then disengage, sink slowly into the ashen eve

Where unseen, sparks glow and glimmer
   From my inmost chamber throughout
Night's long deep slumber, until sensing your
Imminent Return, the Blaze Newborn emerging

My Solemn Vow

I am fierce and I am strong,
forever hold me in your arms.
Right here is where we belong,
disengage in petty charms.

Resign from their temptations,
maintaining inner focus.
Publicly stir ovations,
spirit confirms the locus.

I give you my solemn vow,
to never retreat from you.
With glory I will endow,
compassion and my love too.

Look here, I am your mirror,
you will view things more clearer.

Disengaged

A pencil and a paper, and she begins to write. No ones going to tell her if its wrong or right.
Every little notion and every tear shes shed. Stacks up in the corner and often goes unread.
Written declarations, confession of her sins. The page it fills up quickly and another one begins.
All her raw emotions stand up on the page. And what a great relief for her to finally disengage..

Cut-Off Music

Watching the Emmys, I couldn’t help see
A glaring inequality.
When certain winners spoke too long,
The band began to play a song…

Implying, time to leave the stage;
Right NOW you have to disengage.
You do not rate a minute more,
So get a move on, out the door.

The A-list stars, though, got to speak
And might have gone on for a week,
Which proves that we should be aware
Of yet more ways that life’s unfair.

Premium Member When Poets Leave

Will one more leave us in the morrow
And color sad the break of dawn
Will they leave words we can borrow
To inspire us when they're gone

Some leave no traces of their verse
Just the silence of an empty page
In quiet storms their words disperse
 In wistful winds they disengage

Will it be you or will it be me
 Who takes that silent flight
Or will we sail the cyber sea
Like ships passing in the night

Body Language

Your lips smile sweetly,
But your eyes are so cold,
Your arms wrap around me,
                            Like a cage.
Your hand on my cheek,
                            In a slap so bold,
Your fingers on my neck,
                            Eyes hot with rage.
My face on your chest,
                            Suffocated in your hold,
Love binds my heart,
                            And I cannot disengage.

Thunderous Applause

A summer storm has struck upon the stage.
Like clouds, faces in the crowd change to black.
As lightning triggers sudden disengage,
tonight’s entertainment can stay on track.
The wit he’s stored within his mind’s spice rack
can use this summer rain in which to mull.
Dry humor, soaking wet, delivers smack
and thunderous applause says he’s not dull.
This stand-up comic entertains without a lull.

Premium Member Genocidal Ecocide

If we can't stop genocide
Then what are our chances with ecocide?

If we can't disengage from competitive economic addictions
to ecocide
Then what are our chances
of giving up politicized military genocide
to restore seven generations
of multiculturally healthy
democratic justice,

Or even making peace through
forty days of Lent?

But, we can start eco-matrimony
in harmony
with bicamerally enlightened
empowering nonviolent
non-hegemony.

Premium Member Unsung Lullaby

Today, the suction method is used
A method some consider crude
Or even cruel, but it is excused
 Because nothing is taboo

The practice goes back to ancient times
Where some cultures considered it a crime
Pennyroyal, soapwort, and sage
Were often used to disengage
And to bring to an abrupt end
That which cannot fend

Precious lives ending too soon
Before they can be sung a lullaby
Violently expelled from the womb
Before they can even cry

Unpause

I clicked the “pause” on Trumpet Jazz
Before I went to sleep.
I fell into a sweet repose,
My slumber dusky deep.

But suddenly at 3 A.M.
I jolted bolt awake,
The trumpets wafting to my head;
There must be some mistake.

For unbeknownst to me, that button
Seemed to disengage
And Trumpet Jazz was wailing
Like some cats were on the stage.

Technology is helpful but
There oughta be some laws
Preventing what was caused because
My Dell unpaused the “pause.”

Premium Member Nuggets

Nuggets Miracle Man 5-13-2022 Occasionally, with nuggets of wisdom, I’m blessed, but often they vaporize while I’m getting dressed. From stressful situations I must quickly disengage, only then will these nuggets flow from pen to page. The nuggets are God sent having a brief lifespan, so they must find my paper as fast as they can. They’re not mine to hold but were given to share, and are oft meant for one, of whom I’m not aware.

Premium Member Behind and to Your Left

Standing back, up on the stage
I can't, nor want to, disengage
My eyes locked on you as you sing
You know that I'd do anything
To play with you, us side by side
The songs we love, I'll be the guide
And jog your memory with a tune
I'll be the jukebox in the room
I'll start with something that I know
You'll pick it up and then we'll go
On flights of whimsy, musically
Where they'll end? Who knows, we'll see
Amazing, this would be with you
So effortless, and easy too
