Unsung Lullaby

Today, the suction method is used
A method some consider crude
Or even cruel, but it is excused
 Because nothing is taboo

The practice goes back to ancient times
Where some cultures considered it a crime
Pennyroyal, soapwort, and sage
Were often used to disengage
And to bring to an abrupt end
That which cannot fend

Precious lives ending too soon
Before they can be sung a lullaby
Violently expelled from the womb
Before they can even cry

Thank you for entering and for understanding. This will continue to happen until humans have more controll over their actions & their bodies. It's too bad but understandable since who or what is a monster changes by culture. Congrad's, Light & Love

A gut-wrenching subject, Joseph. You have treated it with the frankness it deserves but in such easy rhyme which made it easier for the reader's eye. Impressive!

so sad. What a great and forceful way to bring this to light in your descriptive poetry.
