there was a teacher from crete

whose foot size was quite petite

well students did plot

some shoes for oversized feet.

Night Whisper Her Deceit
we sailed away to the island of Crete
where night whispers her deceit
and then we wait for the wheels of
night to turn on the light
where she whisper through the night...

Vouves Olive Tree
Vouves Olive Tree.

(The olive tree of Vouves estimated to be over 3000 years old. Still producing delicious olives on the isle of Crete in Greece. The exact age of the tree can not be determined because the heartwood has already rotted away).

the Vouves olive tree
it is producing olives

Inside Out In the Blue Waters
Take me to Crete,
or take me to Rhodes
Please Mediterranean
me in my soul
Salt me in waters
which lapped at the feet
of every sentinel
army's defeat
Blue me in atmospheres
sun up my core
Forgetting me there
makes me just want it more
Take me to Rhodes,
or take me to Crete
Please Mediterranean
me to complete......

Premium Member Some Sweetmeat With Mesquite
Sweet, sweet, can't be beat
What a treat, love to eat
Veggie meat, cookie sheet
Oats and wheat down the street.

Take a seat off your feet
Here to greet friends from Crete
Cuban Pete in the sleet
Areet pleat, neat, petite.

The elite ocean fleet
No defeat, no retreat
Never cheat, just compete
I entreat my parakeet....

Flight of Icarus
With wax and feathers
Strapped to his arms,
Icarus took flight like a bird,
Escaping Crete,
The labyrinth far below.

Forgetting his father’s advice,
Feeling freedom,
Like a moth to a light,
He soared towards the sun.

The wax melted and he moulted,
Then down he plummeted,
To the ocean below,
Where the waves washed over his corpse....

Disaster
The cult, the-
rape were also in play,
when Icarus flew out of Crete.

   Carrying the sky
on your shoulders when
   you were burning.

   After visitation
I will write a poem
   on the triumph of failure.

   The dialect of body
will tear down the bed
   unlearning the love.

   Whom would-
you believe in distress
   unforgiving the sword.

The Dog's Fun with Grandma

My daughter's dog is in love with me?
His dish like, excited eyes seem starving.
But over my legs he goes balmy licking,
Oh, that ~Olive lotion from Crete!

My legs are ambrosial popsicles to him!
That pooch cannot for hours stop licking.
Oh, that divine exuberance, from the sprit of Mt Olympus ~
Olive lotion from Crete!

DOUBLE THE LIMERICK

There was an old lady from Crete
Who had a goat that continued to bleat
So she took it up the road
For her neighbours to goad
Who in turn kicked it out on the street

Now to this, the bleating goat took offence
So on another neighbour, jumped their fence
Ate all their veggies, to boot
Until the neighbour did, scoot
Back to the first neighbour for recompense

Premium Member What Was His Name
He was tall and cavalier
Wined me under a chandelier
How he was debonair
With his soft curls of hair
Gallant and handsome
Dance moves for a twosome
He swept me right off my feet
With a sultry accent straight from Crete
How could I ever forget that starlit sundown
And that bartender from the other side of town

Greece
Right now I’d be visiting Greece
If all travel did not simply cease
Seeing Athens and Crete
And, to me, such a treat –
Santorini, where stress would release.

I’ve seen pictures and all I can say
Is such beauty just blows me away.
Going there was a dream
But today it must seem
Like a scene from a movie or play.

Though I’ve heard of a virtual tour
As a way to long-distance explore
That has little appeal
Like a virtual meal
Which just teases and makes you want more....

The Olive Tree
The greatest of all the trees
if pressed would be the olive tree.
Surely, created by mother nature.
At a place where the Aegean Sea,
stretches out to meet the land of Crete.
Nature has bestowed upon her a majestic tree
with a warm climate with rich fertile lands.
And crowned her with the sun.
And bathed her with the sea,
Nurturing the soul of the olive tree.
A wonderful gift to mankind and yet,
It was puzzling to his mind but over time,
He discovered the worth of the olive tree....
