Greece

Right now I’d be visiting Greece If all travel did not simply cease Seeing Athens and Crete And, to me, such a treat – Santorini, where stress would release. I’ve seen pictures and all I can say Is such beauty just blows me away. Going there was a dream But today it must seem Like a scene from a movie or play. Though I’ve heard of a virtual tour As a way to long-distance explore That has little appeal Like a virtual meal Which just teases and makes you want more.

Love the last limerick anf your well-taken point. Virtual is not real. Been to Greece, highlight of my youth and still fondly remembered. The temple on the acropolis is still under construction, but it will never have the glory it had in the beginning. If opening the work force too early may backlash. If it does, who will Trump blame for that? He doesn't make mistakes, you know! / M

so did you really have plans made for this? What a huge bummer, dear. I have always wanted to get hubbie on a cruise, but with the thing that happened to those people on the cruise, how will I ever get him to go on one?? SIGH.

yes, we had plans for a 2 week tour of athens, crete, mykonos and santorini. it wasn't a cruise - we'd be staying on hotels and traveling from one island to the next by ferry. i doubt if we'll ever get to go on that trip - the whole idea makes me much too nervous now...

yeah, it will be there but i seriously doubt if i'll get to go. i can't imagine being on a plane for 9-10 hours now or anytime in the future...

I know nothing about virtual worlds, but imagining the sea-scented wind blowing through your hair only works for those who have never experienced it. Once you have known the best, second-best is never good enough. Greece will still be there next year! Aloha! Rico

i agree with you, rico! i read articles about people "touring" places on their computers and to me, it's like licking the icing off a picture of a cake on a cake mix box. not quite the same thing at all...
