Premium Member A Cat Lady In Cincinnati
An old lady in Cincinnati
Is mean, vindictive and chatty
She has fifty-three kittens
She calls them all Mittens
It’s no wonder she’s frazzled and catty

Cincinnati
There was a woman from Cincinnati

Who'd put up jars of favorite spaghetti

Think not her action was kinda nutty

Flavor was great

Hunger did sate

The hearts of friends did send up confetti....

Subtle, a swanky sweet swan-themed restaurant in Cincinnati
Accidentally took evening reservations for a hundred and three
Unfortunately, their capacity limit is twenty-five and a half
The booking agent got fired, which reduced the staff...

Premium Member Team Made Fun of Boss Hog
He got made fun of in the boys locker room
When he took off his trunks and gave them a moon
You must have worn a suit on the beach today!
He was so angry, he decided to make them pay

It’s bad enough to be the largest hog on the team
Making fun of his tan line was incredibly mean.
He became the quarter back and showed them all up.
Loved receiving MVP and the Cincinnati loving cup....

Premium Member Thoughts of the Empire State Building
They talk about me in Cincinnati and Kalamazoo
In Texas, Idaho, Wyoming, Russia and Timbuktu.
They like my photos but few travel to New York City.
Where the Broadway shows are spectacular and witty.

A skyscraper, what is that? Asks a child from Chad.
I’m the Empire State Building, beautiful and bad.
Decorated each December in lights of green and red.
Come to New York City, see me, and get amply fed....

Cincinnati
There was a wee one they called Patty
Who made his home in Cincinnati
From Dublin to Ohio
He left and decided to go
His friends thought he was quite batty

His mum thought it was a pity
But he brought his green to the new city
He brought over clover
And spread it all over
Everyone thought it was pretty

Cincinnati Reds
For all of you, here is a little history: Professional baseball got its start in Cincinnati. The “Red Stockings” played in the Queen City. That was in 1869; over a century ago. Players were paid on the banks of the Ohio. With gloves made of leather, and bats made of wood, this year’s team is also pretty good. “Great American Ballpark” is where they play ball. The Central Division winners just might take it all.

Desperate
She leaves the tap running
in the kitchen;
she leaves her nine month
old baby with the nanny
a whole weekend;
she can't remember her last
date or steamy moments
with her husband....
He married her and forgot
she doesn't need only
roses and Cincinnati wine,
but also pleasure for her body.
Sometimes she leaves her house
half attended,
to fulfil another half of her life
with a man who saw desire
flickering in her eyes......

Out of Time
I'm in the ICU
I think somewhere in Cincinnati
a city I do not know that well.

I'm hooked up to tubes and machines
they buzz and beep regularly.
I think it must be nighttime
there are no windows
but the shadows are deep.

Suddenly the machines start screaming
rushing feet hurry near.
Silence crashes into silence.

A day later
I am at home making plans
for the trip to the hospital
as if nothing yet had happened
and nobody died....

1963
Those long bus rides
between Urbana, Illinois and Wheaton, Maryland
were all in the interspace,
hours of smooth nothingness punctuated
by jangly nothingness
at change points like Cincinnati and Pittsburg.
Blurs in memory, dreamy,
taste of intensly needed sandwiches
and the desperate need to be clean.
Long half-sleep voyages
through fantasy, through needle-sticking
drives, erection, thirst,
looking out of the window for relief,
only to see darkness....

Cookie Rojas
Your major league career started in Cincinnati. Some years later, it ended in Kansas City. You played every position, but primarily second base. Many seasons involved a pennant chase. Not many knew your real name was Octavio. The nickname “Cookie” is the one we would know. You came a long way from your origins in Cuba. Your had your best seasons while playing for Philadelphia. As a player and later a coach, you could do it all. In your time, you were an asset to baseball.
