Stop break and listen
A song is always playing
Breeze plays the leaves
Cicada strums the strings
As the Vireo's aria unfolds
cryptic cicada
nocturne of tymbals thrumming
cicatrix in brain
dead silence of night
my last breath in abeyance
for cicada song
loud celebration
winged flowers of Lazarus
nature’s snooze alarm

Poet's Notes:
Inspired by a Haiku by Basho.
"tis the season"
a cicada sizzles in the Summer sun
as the day begins another begun
some day this will all be done
when Fall falls into Autumn
female attraction
incessant male mating choir
cicada debut

Cicada chirp
vibration.
Comes an image
of heat, sweat, sweet clover
and haystacks that itch.

Was it the wind that had been loosed?
On my still bum, he’d come to roost.
I’d been poked unaware.
I turn around and stare.
By a cicada, I’ve been goosed.

a balmy evening
sweating out rivers of heat ~
sun glares in silence
too hot to handle
sounds of summer pierce the sky ~
cicada chorus
cicadas grow old
their voices fading softly
autumn approaches
magi say it's free
don't like it
suck my cicada
MagiCicada 13
Cicada chirps
Cold soda pop slurps
Summertime is in the air.
Chasing fireflies at night
Honey bees in flight
Summertime is in the air.
Front porch talks
Beach-combing walks
Summertime is in the air.

sea breezes
have no interest
in
political winds
staccato cicada chatter
pays no heed
to
chatty gossip
wild leeks
don't choose
the
soup of the day
if they could,
would anyone listen?
Silver moon wandering as enlightened one
Glowworm flaunting as moons scion
twinkling stars garnished dark sky
tinkling cicada added music to rye
serene night pacifies ones spleen
routine sleep wants to this dark sheen..
Form:
By tassel-like tentacles the cicada suck the clear dew,
The sparse parasol trees its voice penetrates through.
Higher position makes its sounds heard far and wide,
It’s not because of the support autumn winds provide.r
(tran.)
The cicada makes a mysterious red invasion every 13 years
Maybe they're superstitious or gamblers... how weird!!!
What if us humans hibernated
Emerge craving food, eyes dilated
Screams would crash through drums of neighbours ears
From atop the great tall sequoias
dragonflies fantasize of summertime;
of warmer mornings and balmy winds,
while dodging flycatchers and bullfrogs.
A lone cicada sings his mating sonnet
upon the ebb and flow of life's circle.
Sun goes down in abstract silences,
deep into the breath of primary colours.
The universe blends in perfumes
of passion’s passed moments.
Singing midnight in white rime
by cicada, lost in flowers lime,
dreams move in the senses of the universe—
setting atomic desire free.
