Bittersweet days gone.
Thanksgiving festivities,
cooking and laughter.
Celebrations with my Dad,
I will forever cherish!
11/7/21
first green shoots appear
celebrations underground
trumpets lead parade

HONORABLE MENTION
A birthday is to savor
celebrations never lose their flavor
It’s a milestone, not a millstone
queen or king, please ascend your throne
Endearing memories come to mind
Celebrations shared from the past
Timeless recollections from my youth
Those tender musings I hold dear
Treasured moments from yesteryears
jubilant dancing in the streets
kindred spirits laughing
lavish family gatherings
multitude of hugs and pats
numerous parties
outrageously wonderful celebrations
pandemic finally over
a wonderful birthday wedding cake
two celebrations in one
the baker stacked roses and carnations high
in peaches, pinks, and lavenders
delighting she was asked to cater her daughter’s wedding
Faded photographs
Recall past celebrations,
Moments caught in time.
Thankfully we remember
Loved ones gone to heaven's home.

A THANKSGIVING TANKA Poetry Contest
The breaking of bread.
When kith and kin reunite,
All under one roof.
A time for celebrations,
With some moments to reflect.
10 / 23 / 2021.
A THANKSGIVING TANKA.
"Life is too short to say no to cake." - Author unknown
A chocolate, vanilla-
sweet kiss on the tongue.
Rich icing between layers.
For celebrations,
or just a sweet treat.
A treasured -
gift
the milestone attained
a benediction bestowed
so in midst of celebrations
bliss drenched soul presence
recognising ephemerality
pulsates in nonchalance
as during a downturn
watching life unfold
Colors
Celebrations
City lights
Country gardens
Circling pinwheels
Coastal sunsets
Come and go
Change with seasons
Center the mind
Calm the soul
Colors continue
Certainty in life

JULY
The
Summer
Has begun
Celebrations
On various dates
In USA, the fourth
But elsewhere like on the moon
The first man to take the first step
For mankind, World Population Day
And for myself, well I was born in July
ALTERNATIVE CELEBRATIONS-:-
intended
symbolic
optimism
inspires
progress
turning DAY INTO NIGHT
veritable
sunlike
brightness
illuminates
ideas
into PAEANS OF PRAISE
hubris
mirrors
forgotten
remote
remains
When I came home
no celebrations
why are soldiers now saints?
Writer's Note: My inspiration drove my to write this in the third person on behalf of all Vietnam Veterans who may have felt that way. My father served in Vietnam
The New Year's celebrations are over
Back to business as usual, regain our composure
No more acting like a louse
Being obnoxious around the house
No more excuses for acting like our dog Rover

My lady
My ladies, younger
One and two
Can't be taken for granted
Their powerful love
Coloured with forgiveness
Again, I thank my Savior
Jesus, the reassuring joy in my soul
Come death or birth - days
Amen. Shalom shalom friends
Are weddings only for the young
Dancing up a storm
Limber in sleek outfits
Graceful in their form
Older folks gaze wistfully
Perchance they are quite jealous
Recalling bygone celebrations
Sealed in tears they will not tell us...
Everybody's going to be hooting tonight
Another year has passed, the celebrations will ignite
Lots of joy juice will be drinked
Then it's over in a blink
We'll look forward to another year, each day a delight

A super month for celebrations!
Unwrapping all those presents.
Great month for their birthdays.
Under the Virgo sign, naturally kind.
Sons to be so very proud of, always.
Twins were born this wonderful month.
Come on let’s celebrate.
Just for a while we will do it in real style.
It’ll be great.
A party fine.
Eating a while. Dancing a while.
Drink wine.
We won.
Play slots, now smile.
Fun.
Come on Let’s celebrate.
Eating a while. Dancing a while.
Fun.
Holiday celebrations now start
As Christmas carols chime with delight
Marking long yuletide thanksgiving feast
That vanquishes dearth's attack…
Yes, our family yearns for reunion-bliss
Blest with God's love until New Year comes.
Day dawns bright and clear,
Even sky celebrates this year.
Can you sense that joy is near
Enough to feel the unbound cheer?
May the celebrations ring
Beseeching every star to sing
Encouragement to those held dear~
Remember the Christ-Child and dry your tears.
Raise a glass. Make a toast
to celebrate accomplishments and holidays
coast to coast
Joyful reasons
To rejoice and embrace with praise
Seasons
New Years
Fireworks ablaze
Cheers
Raise a glass. Make a toast
To rejoice and embrace with praise
Cheers
When lanterns paint the sky,
I'll weave tulsi trinkets, celebrate divine sight~
while stars fly..
Wings of new moon,
flare as festivals of delight,
in tune.
We praise,
eternal light~
rays.
When lanterns paint the sky,
flare as festivals of delight~
rays.
