A Vietnam Vet's Point of View

When I came home no celebrations why are soldiers now saints? Writer's Note: My inspiration drove my to write this in the third person on behalf of all Vietnam Veterans who may have felt that way. My father served in Vietnam

A very interesting question. In effect you mean why are they remembered and commemorated now ? There could be some advantage for an administration to do so. For example, in a potential future conflict soldiers would not want to think that when they returned they would be treated like the Vets. Steve

Robert, I served during, but not in, Viet Nam. I would like to think that the following generation recognized the sacrifices of the Viet Nam Vets and it inspired them to recognize the military in a more appreciative way. My daughter and grandson are presently serving. Thank you for your service then and for your continued reminder of those who served during those turbulent times.
