Night
When all is dark
And chirps turn to snores
Night has come
And it is time for sores.

Night is day to my foe
Braying all night like a doe
When I rest from the sow
Sleeping gently like a dove....

Bored Bard
Boardroom Boredom, onBoard
Bordering unBound muse and
Bothering my over-bred mind
Bleating and Braying in me
Boring Beneath my attrium's Base
Brown abyss of bottomless breathes
Where Blue beams blondely
Beautifully veiled boredom
Booms and burst as Uncharged breeze blows
Tearing apart the 'E' in ME...

The Braying Ass
There once was a braying ass
who was so crass
Her head was so thick-
Her owner had to beat her with a stick.
That ass
She brayed day and night-
always ready for a fight.
One day she brayed too loud
Her owner took her in front of a crowd
Shot her right in the head-
Thank Goodness,
that braying ass is now dead.

Roadworks
ROAD WORKS AHEAD

FOLLOW THE DIVERSION

Road-works ? I’d rather have potholes !
Or go on foot, on leather soles.

Engines braying, tempers fraying
More gas, more water,
More electric, fibre-optic
More holes, more chaos !

With what will Wantage strangers greet –
Frustration and a car-clogged street ?

ROAD AHEAD CLOSED

WAIT HERE WHEN RED LIGHT SHOWS...

Rebel Yell
In the sunken hollow a gray mass
addles
A silhouette of swaying muskets
shadows
Braying horses the silent vigil
rattles
A curdling breeze across feted
expanse prattles

The stilled pageant concludes with
the order, "charge"
From sheltering tree line, a
disheveled mass doth barge
A shrieking, cacophonous chorus
christens the onslaught
Menacing octave wafts;
Union, tidal waves to
distraught...

The Black Dog
The black dogs barking
Sending you mad
Howling like crazy
Baying and whining
Driving you mad
Telling you this
Telling you that
Making up the future
Changing the past
Invading you’re thoughts
With the what and the why
and the how and the who
No time for logic
No room for common sense
The black dog is braying
Relentless won’t stop
Yapping and crying
The thing will not stop
Growling and snarling
Sending you mad...

He was a raised hand,
Striking down his past.

Delivering sutures
To each of the futures
He touched.

Braying of donkeys
Echoing in his background.

A passing cloud,
Thundering loud

Smatterings of thought,
Like intermittent rain
On corrugated tin.

Ridges of grey matter
Rising, then falling

To the beat
Of felonious assault
,
Hard, soft meeting

Life, entering death
Arm in arm,

With rage....

I've done my part
all the players laid to rest,
three wise men gazing at a star
a gentle beast braying
the lamb with the chipped leg
a family of three still smiling
though they lost a bit more hay.

Miracle messiah dumped to the back of the closet
with the bulbs, bows and happy paper
where the heavens are always darkened
I slide a wooden rock over their tomb
and head for the warmth of the Inn,
for a beer-small talk and a shot of sloppiness-...

In the wilderness, my cry
Echoes back at me:
My poetry wanes.
And sinks into oblivion
Like the thousand and one discordant notes
That issues out of my braying mouth.
Where are you now, Wordsworth?
Are you vibrating in agony
In a spineless, sunless world?
Would that I had your fervour now.
Has it been murdered too?
Only my playful fancies now are aped
I live in this stifling modern world.
And infection is all around.
The muse has taken a vacation.

Nighttime, the muse is tangled in the talon of riots
catching bricks to the head- mace to the eyes-
Come morning it sips unholy cups of politics
heavily sweetened with the latest deadly virus-
Noontime it wears a brooding- grimacing mask
it's very breath under the most vicious attacks-
Its spending more time in its darkened cave
9 mm alpha dreaming of an omega escape-
Now it'll only listen to T. Robbins and B.F Skinner
slowly become a braying-blue ribbon beggar....

Premium Member Narwhal In the Oval Office
A narwhal frolicked in the oval office
and stirred the status quo
they tried to remove his potent tusk
but they wound up eating crow-
Much to their great dismay
babies were a little safer
the economy was aurora hot.
He thickened up the thin blue line
and weaved a welcome mat for God-
He poked the giant panda in the snout
plugged a hole in our leaky bank account.

Come 2020-it'll be tough to ride a braying donkey...
when we've been purring along in a Maserati...

Limerick crochetés: Once a blaring braying bold trumpet
        for Nicanor PARRA

Once a blaring braying bold trumpet
Used to serenading mere strumpet
Could not hold back loud fart
While entertaining tart
Now the tart on his fart took a bet

That she'd hold back twittering trumpet
If his strumpet balls bowl in cricket
So great fanfare to start
Nations came to hear fart
Trumpet let down strumpet: tart lost bet

Woodpecker
Machete pecks
cycle through a staccato lied.
The music is Jurassic,
a tune rattled in the throat
of a feathered lizard –
the genetic code
of jackhammers.
Apart from the tock-tock
of beak on wood,
their calls are insane.
One could be a jack-ass braying,
one a monkey’s angry chatter.
In some we can hear a pterodactyl
calling from a far distant past.
Woodpeckers are wonderful,
Awesome,
the way a velociraptor
would be awesome
if it could whomp its way
through forests....

they lurk in corners, safe and dark
until they decide to growl and bark
then point an ugly old crooked finger
spittle drooling on the chin, they linger

arguing any point for arguments sake
no sense do they ever seem to make
they pretend to be a master know-it-all
a braying donkey left too long in its stall

always insisting to have the last word
looking like fools, they are quite absurd
these egotistic imbeciles act quite spastic
the pretenders who are all made of plastic...

ANIMAL MUSIC
Take my hand,walk with me,
Like the light, let me lead you to the farm
A music show awaits;
Bees humming within the isolated apiary
Cows moe in their grazing circles,
While sheep's bleat amongst them;
Donkeys braying, dogs barking in a distance,
The rooster throws in a mix with a crow,
The pigs grunt, grunt, grunt here and there.
The herdsman whistles, the birds chirp nonstop;
The wind blows by,a cool refreshing we get,
Before granny's hungry cat hisses, and purrs by my one side eye.
