Does the blackbird
Know or care
Who listens to its song.

Yesterday, my brain-space was so null,
It couldn’t have been nuller.
To think, today, I learned so much
From a bird devoid of color!
The little chattering
blackbird
gives me advice
get on with life
disregard the noise
the world is my oyster
just make
the right choice.

My little mate
the blackbird
would sense I am no more
and mourn me with a whistle
and a goodbye song
maybe his family
would join the singalong.
There is one in the garden soon fed
He is always the first from his bed
Haven’t you heard ?
It’s the early bird

A blackbird flies before the moon,
A life shall pass away;
A death, a bird,
Together stirred,
Fused in a lunar ray;
The wings of a fate falling soon.

The magpie
was swooping
the waddling toddler
the little blackbird
chested the black and white
mid-air
his audacity
broke the magpie's
trajectory
saving the toddler's
sight.
While the red gums bloom
the honeyeaters
quarantine my garden
from other bird species
even my best mate
the little blackbird
hides behind garden pots
terrified
when he visits.
Why the jasmine was
now becoming sensual ?
Drummer was dead.
The blackbird comes
again to sing bluesy.
Clouds on moon ?
Economy of love ?
Will you bargain the
delta for stone ?

Just
beneath
winter's coat,
ivy makes a
home...
the
blackbird
forages
yet no song we
hear...
day
inches
evening
towards teatime
light...
as
sunshine
melts away
the hibernal
night
all ears early morn'
notes clear from yonder coppice ~
blackbird plays it's flute

Although your song
Is heard in the morning
Little blackbird
Don't sleep in your nest
But sing through the lonely night.

The little blackbird
Greets me
With his early morning song,
That sweet uplifting voice
Herald of the glorious new day.

Soar Blackbird high
Above in Cobalt Blue sky
Play a game of catch
pink,pink
persistent
protests proclaim
pussy purrs content with
his game-
on his
veranda
with much disdain-
I'll siesta here 'til
it rains
Note: We are vacation-sitting our daughter's cat this past fortnight or so
The little blackbird
watches over me.
How do I know
it is he?
It is the nestling
from the elkhorn
covered tree.
The way he gamboled
in the garden spray
and danced
with the roses
throwing the mulch
every which way.
caught up in sunshine
sunflowers bob ten feet high
picking pink pansies
a blackbird nest found
with its black speckled blue eggs
red westerly sun
procession of hours
pink gold red purple and black
morning to midnight
