Connie Britton

was once pitching Friday Night Lights at the UNCG park.

unlike me, him there were very few batters who could hit on.

When Black Live Matters a Window Shatters

a black life matters
saw their glass as it shatters
broke by mean batters

after window shatter
know that a black life matters
while sinful scatters

the battle of the bats never to be won or lost
a game of baseball playing over time
the field flooded with lights to win the night
a colony of bats hanging from trees near by
comes to visit and scare the hell out of the batters
running for home base

Scene It

crane flows over the water
ripples with forks upriver,
a kiss of a daffodil mirage
the flower's fleeting visage.

in the gust of a hurricane,
a pumpkin ornamentation
batters a door of a stranger,
they answer, but no one is there.

it did happen.

Blandishment

i take my stance
abandoned on these
desolate tracks of life
that seem to lead
to road blocks
and dead ends

blandishment
weakens an already
dying heart
temporarily
before
it batters
a soul

if caution came
aforetime
like a warning
on train tracks
perhaps
i could halt
impact
before
it implodes
my heart

Listen to poem:
Menacing winds howl through the fragile trees,
In shadows, rain slashes windows like a whip,
Lightning cracks—each flash a brief, jagged tease,
Thunder roars, shaking the earth with its grip.

Outside, the storm batters everything in sight,
Nerves stretch thin as we brace through the night.

We, the Butterflies

Between flowers, the wings flutter
Between showers, the Sun batters
With all the fun and the banter
Between flowers, the wings flutter
Flowers with their size and flavours
We have our own shapes and colours
Between Flowers, the wings flutter
Between showers, the Sun batters.

A Sea of Sadness

In a sea of sadness
I am tossed upon a rocky shore
The waves have flung me down
And I am battered and bruised

And the sea is restless
As I am unable to set myself free
Each time I wrench myself up
The next wave batters me down

Is there no hope for me
Even as I plead to the waves
For god sake set me free
Relentless it just rolls over me.

The Ultimate Power

The wind batters the fragile flower,
in a test for ultimate power.
Nature cannot afford much emotion,
that is left to human devotion.
Like the grey day that ends with a shine,
or when grapes have been turned into wine.
How dawn illumines the dark of night,
and shadows disappear in the light.
When love assumes ultimate power,
the wind will caress..the fragile flower.

Premium Member Landfall Devastation

air depression in ocean
thick cloud sucked by low pressure…
moisture billows up

hurricane is born
eye follows blindly the track …
land lacerated by fall

storm surge flattens things on way
flood drowns the ruins…
devastation batters lives

Education

She bears the name of learning
Hungry men can still be hungry
Yet, she is wooed by them all!

She steps into the life
Of the whole community
Like a warrior
She batters castles of ignoramus.

Our blood gush out for cure –
Where are our true feelings?
Where are the peace and joy
For which the folk fight?

The garment is off!
The carcass is full of knowing
He prides in a humbled woman!

The Daily Battle

I drag myself through each day
Forcing a smile on my face
I laugh and chat like nothing's wrong
So that no one can see the pain inside
Inside me is a torrent of misery and broken dreams
Whipping my heart like a hurricane
It batters and shatters my soul to nothing
I feel so numb to the world
But I'll keep playing this game
So that no one will ever know
How it pains me to be an empty nothing of a girl

Premium Member Not His Night

This was a night all pitchers hate. He had trouble getting the ball over the plate. When he did, the batters displayed their power. The manager yanked him for an early shower. This pitcher wanted to hide in an ivory tower. In a few days, another game will come, fortunately. Pitchers have no need for any memory. He will just have to try all over again. All baseball players are mere mortal men.

Husband

She knew he would come;
with a bang on the door
he would come.
at times gay and merry
laughing with merriment
brimming with love
he would come
into her arms
with laughter
with joy
with love
he would come!

She knew he would come;
with a bang on the door
he would come.
most times fiery and belligerent
boiling with hatred
riding on blows and batters
he would come
into her body
with blows
with insults
with hatred
he would come!

Hold the pickles
And the mustard too
A real time functions
Having fun with you
She lies in disguise
A gooey ducks prize
A funky ‘ask why’
In a mustard; on rye
Catch.is.up!
“Busta move…”
he said;
”...Batters luck!...”
She taps the cat
on her heal at that
with spikes at the base
of her feet…
Hearts are sweet and
heat is the treat
when a honey and a
funky.squeak.meet

“wanna touch the ball babe?”

Shine on most brilliantly my bold, brave lass
Whine no more over misgiving's past
White robe awaits after crucible's blast.
Write of your struggles to all whom this life batters

Beauty and Diviersity

A baseball game is fun to watch and cheer
For nine innings are spectators all geared
Pitchers and batters, runners and fielders
Excitement uncontained as umpires yell there
Batter up is the sound pitcher to the mound
The hindcatcher yells the batter Now!
As the batter swings the crack is heard
Foul ball is the umpires voice and final word
Two strikes and three balls while the batter eyes all
The pitch is thrown as the batter swings tall
