In the Shade of Trees - anacreontic
Softly, one grey spider weaves
underneath the heart-shaped leaves.

Upside-down, cicadas cling.
All the day they loudly sing.

I stand still beneath them all.
They are little. I am small....

The winter wind blows snowflakes,
hiding the sun as day breaks.

Inside the fire speads its heat
throughout the big room replete.

Warmth envelopes me again
as I welcome this old friend....

Premium Member Heaven's Sweetness - Anacreontic couplets
Two stars fell down from the sky.
They winked at me and smiled “hi.”
So entranced was I to see
heaven’s sweetness there by me!
Black of midnight was his hair.
Moon glow was his face so fair.

Loves Joy Anacreontic couplets
A love's embrace intertwines ,
With vines sweet nectar, align.

Eyes aglow with passion's fire,
Verses sung, our hearts aspire.

A loves embrace, beauty's charms
sweet nectar within your arms

DIRTY DANCING - ANACREONTIC COUPLETS

Imagination runs wild,
like the mind of flower child.

Untamed, free to self express
dirty dance moves with finesse.

Sultry, yet grace on display;
seductive in slinky way.

Anacreontic couplets
Sitting on the chair
Looking my hair

They look so shiny
Watching them I feel smiley

Imagining someone to admire
This thought ignite the fire

One day someone going to love me so intense
This thing surely I can sense

Let's keep this poem simple
Because my cheeks have dimple

Among wild weeds a rose blooms, perfumed with elixir fumes. Butterflies visit with glee, sharing nectar with the bee. Was ever a petal born? That would leave beloveds torn, not from its shard like sharp thorn, but its sweet splendour in morn. If it could be evergreen, in my garden it'd be queen.

Orchid blooms in soothing light,
New year's hope shining so bright.

Elegant petals unfold,
As hopes and dreams take strong hold.

Their fragrance, gentle perfume,
Bringing joy as the year blooms.

In this new year start we find,
Beauty and growth intertwined.

A year of promise and cheer,
Orchids swish, "Happy New Year!"

Premium Member Anacreontic Couplets - Recognition
Unaware of who we are,
it’s clear we’ve drifted afar,
insentient to God’s light,
glowing within, day and night.
To this end, our will we bend,
that in silence, we ascend,
simply melding head with heart,
feeling bliss ignition start.
Ego dies, we become wise,
truth of Self then realise,
dancing with love cheek to cheek,
that we are he, who we seek....

Growing Colors
Anacreontic Verse.

Planting a seed
germinating
birthed in the soil
a flower grows
to meet the sun
washed in the rain
born into light
tiny green shoots
natures children
God’s creation
tendered nurtured
bursting with color
delicate face
lifted up high
butterfly kiss
bees pollinate
making summer
a lovely place
pick for lovers
a warm embrace...

Warm sun tans
Beach tourists
Seeking fun
In azure
Ocean waves
Surfers ride
Wood tables
Flouting tides
Children play
With the sand
Paddleboards
Young swimmers
In the shore
Swim for hours
Sunset hides
Golden disc
Ending day
Bringing night
Enjoyment
In hotels

Premium Member Avian Migration - Anacreontic Couplets
Grey clouds are hovering near. Winter's chill will soon be here. Avian are taking flight, pausing to roost for the night, but only for a brief time then on to a warmer clime. Flocks fly on fine feathered wing, migrating, they trill and sing. To return in spring to nest. At journey's end they will rest before baby chicks arrive, so the species will survive.

Fourth Dimension
Anacreontic Verse

Forgotten
love has faded
forever now lost
in the lips of ice
What once was
is no more
Her body revolts
she heaves heavily
Get thee away
Deliver me Lord
back to sanity
Let her feel my eyes
let her see my needs
a soft bed for two
now scorned by my touch
Let me give my might
pray show me the way
I will not lose her
I cannot go on
My life is over

Premium Member Vino - Anacreontic Couplet
Oh wonderful, tempting wine,
Delicate fruit of the vine,
The grape, a luscious berry,
Chosen to keep us merry.
It was deemed medication,
Despite intoxication.
It may relieve pain and strife,
It's a paradox of life.
Red or white sparkling or still,
You’ll love it, I know you will.
Choose a bottle from the shelf
Twill draw you out of yourself.
Enhances meals, its vino
The best pick-me-up we know.

Cold Flight
(Anacreontic Verse)
11/6/2015

Cold Flight

Cold flight! What ice
finds fierce fire
between paws
of mine crunching
through rough snow
and slush slip
mush mist up
from face and
tail underfoot.
Careful pines
step aside of our
hunt tonight
sky lighted
by lightning
finding prey very
frightened of Life’s
biological
cycle, like the eye
of a rifle
eying my demise
behind traitor pines....

Anacreontic verse

Bacchus rose
joy purging
xeric throats
choking upon
libations
conflicted aims
dancing naked
fearlessly awash
escaping
inhibition’s
tyranny
loosing anger’s soul
through merriment
releasing
wingless spirits
thoughtless thoughts
unfettered
voices mumbling
wine soaked praise
to numbing’s god.

Poets
Poet paints
on canvas of
human mind
using brushes of
poetic tools and
strokes of passion
to create a
picturesque scene
that takes readers
out on a journey
to unseen places
and makes them
feel the innate
beauty of nature
or to release
pent up emotions
that make readers
ponder over
human mind and
life in general

Anacreontic verse

These April showers
will drown the flowers
and drive the tourists
all away.
The rainclouds hover.
They run for cover
and wish they'd waited
for a day.
But if thy stay for
only an hour,
they'll find that this
was just a shower.
It is for certain
we'll raise the curtain,
on fields of tulips
in bright array.
But April showers
are good for flowers.
Come back to see us
in sunny May.

Premium Member A Lovers' Heartbeat Anacreontic Verse
Timeless lyrical,
compassionate dance,
a shifting effect
of light and color,
the glowing full moon
conducts in folk tune.
Indispensable
distant humble stars
spring a russet, sign.
White unfolded wings
flitter wayward round
a rhythmic beating
in shadow, chill, air.
The spike tuft ears owl
melodies hooting,
influence passion.
A lovers' heartbeat
keeping steady rhythm.
A starlight guides the
way by windswept night.
