Notes About The Poem

Avian Migration - Anacreontic Couplets

Grey clouds are hovering near. Winter's chill will soon be here. Avian are taking flight, pausing to roost for the night, but only for a brief time then on to a warmer clime. Flocks fly on fine feathered wing, migrating, they trill and sing. To return in spring to nest. At journey's end they will rest before baby chicks arrive, so the species will survive.

Dear Lin, you artfully capture the avian migration with vibrant imagery and a nice sparkle of alliteration "Flocks fly on fine feathered wing". Congratulations for your wonderful win in Silent One's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Thank you ever so much, Susan. I like a bit of alliteration, but never too much. A sparkle is just right to me, too!

In October and November I see flocks of geese flying in formation honking away heading south for warmer climates. Would love to hitch a ride lol Tom

I know what you mean, Tom. I see many geese arriving in my warm climate and wonder where they had been. Thanks. Have a great holiday.
