April Showers
Anacreontic verse
These April showers
will drown the flowers
and drive the tourists
all away.
The rainclouds hover.
They run for cover
and wish they'd waited
for a day.
But if thy stay for
only an hour,
they'll find that this
was just a shower.
It is for certain
we'll raise the curtain,
on fields of tulips
in bright array.
But April showers
are good for flowers.
Come back to see us
in sunny May.
