I've been out hunting souls.
I need to fill so many holes.
Sleep upon God's holy altar
I will promise to not falter.
At the altar of the seasons knelt
She says a prayer each year
For to make the cold snow melt
And let spring time re-appear
As I walked in the room
I met

Lay your sorrows down
Upon my healing altar,
Walk with me a while
And I’ll tell you of your worth,
So much more than you believe.
Mum had a chat with her daughter
And she urgently besought her
Not to be bedding
Before the wedding
Or she’d be late at the altar

Give a glass of water
To those beyond the altar
Quenching their thirst
Listening to their curse
Giving them a voice
And freedom of choice.
The untended plant
withers away, leaf by leaf ~
a time of indifference.
Why do we falter,
poised at the divine altar,
blaming it on gravity?
slaughtered innocents
lambs on an evil altar
sacrificed to hate
carnage outrages the gods
spilt blood spells out remember

Portents of the storms to come
Ascends the altar drunk on rum
Forgets his two-word line, 'I do'
Says instead, 'Do I know you?'
The wedding was scheduled for three
But the groom took off for a pee
How the bride's bra strap
Got caught on my lap
Remains a complete mystery . . . .
My soul an ever-burning fire on the altar of gratitude, offering Thee my Lord thanksgivings!

Down on my knees,
at the altar I fall,
hoping one day You will
answer them all.
Praying for him and
praying for her,asking you Lord
their heart do stir.

Every word feels ecstatic
when a poet court them
with much resoect and affection
before lead them in glory
to the altar of poetry
Wasting huge amounts of energy
not for the proclamation of fidelity
is to discard the vowes made on that altar...
when the sincere and amorous didn't look far.
Take a person, an ideal, and then stir.
Place on an altar, ready to anoint.
Be careful when you do - ideals can blur.
Making heroes from men can disappoint.
Football's my neighborhood's religion
its altar, the couch near the kitchen
Worshiping the big-screen television
every home in the subdivision

Dear Dad
The foods that I left
In the altar that I wish
You reborn to another life
With my prayer to Buddha
To you my fullest love
You live in my mind forever and always
Courage,
Beloved child of love,
Help me overcome fear
As to sacrifice my ego
On the altar of
Devotion!

hit my knees
couldn’t float
hand swatted away
should I
have crawled my way to the altar
ledge
God smiles
lifts me up
brushes me off
blesses me
