It's a Dog's Life

A dog's life is eat, sleep, poop and pee At times they go for a walk, run wild in the field We couldn't do without them Bringing warmth and sunshine Greeting us at the door after venturing afield

Reigning In

You may conquer
on horseback
but to rule
must dismount
Pandora
lies waiting
new blood
for the fount

Napoleon
Attila
Augustus
afield
The vanquished
in chaos
till order
—congeals

My Blooming Orchid In the Dark

My honeyed lover, unpercieved
inclandestine
a golden whisper swept afield
vanished--in the breeze

Forever: i feel inside
of me, in a most profound part,
miles and miles
burrowed in my heart

You are and always be
my
blooming
orchid in the,dark

Our Better Angels

Our better angels, where have they flown?
Far afield, in a storm, windblown?
And where, the light, where wisdom shone?
If only we could see.

The answer, it seems to me, is unknown,
as the land is in a tempest, thrown.
Without their grace, I feel alone,
Give them back to me.

The Forest and the Trees

Quantum Superposition,
  forever preying on our minds

Refusing to admit what consciousness knows,
  its theory never finds

The more complex the argument,
  the further afield it falls

Roaming and scattered amidst the trees,
  blind to the forests call

Fear

A storm afield monsters roam in the woods
                                 Home sweet home we run for home
                                          A gale of fear follows

Isolation

I have pushed myself too hard
I have gone indeed too far
Beyond the average within which I am.
Who then shall cheer when the bird sings
That lets stray its wings too far afield
That no soul near hears the melody
Or discerns the symphony
That otherwise would send amazing floods
Though these barren deserts of flesh and
blood?

Another Lesson To Learn

R-eading the life's events
I-s taking you out of the gray;
Z-one of blue shall vanish,
A-pril thirtieth Sunday.

P-ink sky you shall see
A-bove the new horizon;
N-ever shall you go afield,
U-nderneath the beacon.
N-ever fear the dark days,
C-rimson shall take its turn;
I-t's great to understand,
A-nother lesson to
L-earn.

Let Not Your Walk Go Astray

J-ust don't let your walk go astray,
A-nytime and anywhere;
N-ever ever go afield,
E-ven during bad weather.

M-ake the right choice,
A-s you tread on the horizon;
T-rials twenty-first of May
A-im to give good reason.
V-iolent wind in the air
I-s making the trees sway;
L-et your life stay in focus,
L-et not your walk go
A-stray.

-glistening Time-

Not cut or polished
nor facet shaped
neither carat weighed
but a Diamond, none the less.

Jagged rough
hardened tough,
Laying in wait
on gravel ground.

For the Sun's
touching feel,
To arrive at just the right time
from any which, point of view.

With patience, enduring
to display it's glistening shine
in radiating, far afield
to the attracting eye.

Empire of Ruin

Far afield, she wanders
In a forest of moonlight,
She is the faerie queen
Of rusting young souls.
Hers is the empire of ruin.

A star of selflessness,
Outshining the howl
And grind of despair,
She bears all the weight.
Hers is the empire of ruin.

Came home this morning
To those who could wait,
Not one in recovery,
Hers is the empire of ruin.

Minnesota Winter

Picture several feet of snow, Pa! Don’t be clumsy with your packing, Sir! Of fluffy white fields, you’ll be in awe. Afield Southern climate, you’ll feel the brr. Pack your woolen coat and boots, Dad! Don’t forget warm socks, silk underwear, Pop! From far away it don’t seem so bad But the scene’s colder from Santa’s workshop. 12/1/2019

Bikini Browsing

Women can watch the surf roll in
For hours at a time it seems
Their gaze is locked so far afield
Are they looking inside their dreams?

Or do they feel ancestral tugs
Pulling them into the sea
Like seamen hear the Lorelei
Choir of Catastrophe?

Could it be a lunar cycle
Linked to astrology
Which helps them feel as one with earth
And no need at all for me?

Hidden In The Hollow

Hidden In The Hollow
                        Of His Blessed Hand;
Never Foe Can Follow
                      Never Traitor Stand;

Every Surge A Flourish
                        Every Strength Appear;

Afield To Blast With Hurry,
                                Touch The Spirit,
                                                      There, There, .... There!

The Knightly Spouse

A priviledge, not a burden
The power of Love to wield.
In the name of the highest;
Crowned a king; alike throned.
As far beyond that wall afield
Each castle's; cloud-horizoned.

A great honour, the greatest
Entrusted them, vowed knightly
Raise not a gold-fingered hand
But tears for to wipe, ward off
In black who for Despondency
At such saving gestures scoff.

The Dream Wanders Far Afield

The dream wanders far afield,
in search of a kindred tribe
that to cynics does not yield,
by princely sums not bribed.

Far and wide, it sees many a face
that it can scarce recognize,
specimens of a hybrid race
born of wanton compromise.

Oh where can it be, it wonders,
the kinship my heart craves.
As the sky dims and thunders,
it stumbles upon rows of graves.

Innocence

That lonely girl
Picking Cotton afield
Which the bible carrying
Crooked man
Brainwashed her parents
That she is possessed:
In her lives some a thousand and one spirits.
She isn't the same anymore
The spirits are gone,
With them;her hymen
At thirteen; her Innocence gone.
And the Bible man mounts his pulpit
Same way he mounted her
This time to invoke death on me
For telling tales.

Edify the Sheepfold

E-dify the sheepfold,
D-o it with great love;
G-uide them all with light,
A-s ordered by God above.
R-echarge the sheepfold,
D-o it with true faith;
O-bey the Lord's command, abide by His mandate.

P-lace the sheepfold
I-nside the safety zone;
N-ever let anyone go afield,
E-arnest care must be shown.
D-ay eleven of October, defend the chosen ones' stronghold;
A-im to feed the flock, edify the sheepfold.

Tears For Her

She came to me in a dream
 Walking in afield of daisys
9 years old she was
 Flowered dress,Sandie brown hair
She stood a smile on her face
 Looking at me but not a word
For years she came to me
 I kept her to myself
I cry for her for I found
 For I met her mother
4 years before she passed"Cancer"
 All I know of her beauty is what I saw in my dreams
Mother was amazed at my discription
 She left my dreams
All thats left are my tears for her

April Rain

The long awaited needed rain finally came in gentle drops. Thirsty daffodils greedily quaffed the tepid precipitate while their odoriferous scents reluctantly merged with ozone creating a pungent bouquet that stimulated the nostrils. Far afield from the daffodils robins comb the newly wet grass for ever emerging earthworms that are coaxed above by the rain. Soon the tugs of war begin between the two adversaries.

A Countryside Breeze

You were mine,
glad to be caged,
imprisoned in my grip,
an ecstasy of love.

I was not wise,
looked further afield,
found other nymphs,
satiated and fully satisfied
I shunned your essence.

I opened my hand
and you
like a freed butterfly,
flew away.

I saw you gorge
on nectar sweet
and urged you back,
but the chain was broken.
Once again
like spring-time seeds
you flew away
upon the countryside breeze.

A New Memorial Day

2017 a New Memorial Day

My dear country is in disarray,

But its protectors protect it anyway,

Memorial Day finds them far afield,

Unable to laugh, unable to yield.

Lonely, disillusioned over news at home,

Cowardly violence, loud mouthing, moans,

Still they are stronger than these short term vents,

They sleep in sand, in rain, in tents,

Optimistic in their hearts what they are trying to heal,

God bless them today, past and future – that’s how I feel.

Just a Few Steps Closer

J-ust a few steps closer,
O-ur Savior will come again;
E-ternal life is in store,
Y-ou have little time left to win.

F-ew steps closer,
L-et's glorify the Almighty's name;
O-ur Father will send His Son,
R-escuing the flock from flame.
E-nd of the world draws near,
N-ever linger nor tarry;
T-ry to turn the trials
I-nto triumph or victory.
N-either foot will go afield, despite the dark and vile weather;
O-n the fourteenth of May, it's just a few steps closer.

Jagged

Bella Luna blemished with jagged face Craters and debris of beauty no trace Midnight sky golden globe rides high On earth we see vision and softly sigh. Luna mystery is at last revealed When man walked surface so far afield Moon dust and rocks blemished dead face Revealed reality cannot be erased Magical moon that rotates by our side Regret for all dreams its mystery died From far off distance presenting perfection Jagged facade smoothed no imperfection.

Intervention

Glancing up from my writer’s post
I sensed a touch, a hug almost.
Unrestrained presence hung about
refreshing, refilling my brain.
Thoughts came to arrest the mundane;
streams of purpose now flood my drought.

Somewhat doubtful, walking my dog,
beset with angst, a charming fog
encompassed my way, gone afield.
Overnight, the Morning Gazette
published the news, hard to forget -
along that path thieves were revealed

My course is sealed by One who’s just;
I place my trust beneath His shield.
