All the Music - the 1970s
All the music done by ear
Hammered out by courier
Lyric carried all the cheer
While record shows the blow and beer.

Fun
Is 1970s funny different
To 2017 funny?
I chuckle when Brian's life is shown
But others don't seem to get it
And some stuff on MTV now
I don't see the point
I think there comes a time
When funny is different
It's sad to say.

Oh, you don't like the things I have to say, well okay, just go ahead and kiss my grits!

Alabama native Polly Holliday portrayed Flo, a sassy waitress on the TV show "Alice," in the late 1970s. She coined the phrase "Kiss my grits!" ~Wikipedia...

The Model
Sympatric Aphrodite,
wide photographic opportunity
We bow to our natural needs
Her glare, to all our hopes
The actresses' deft chin, glacial
A mountain of irses
Gadfly 1970s
Where blondes and brunettes
co exist
Dream on the fantasy
Brown boots, high heels
drifting in Autumns air...

Premium Member A Parent's Jam
Written by Gail DeBole
in the 1970s
(Pre-parent status)

I'd like to have more patience.
I really think I can.
I tell myself most readily
While looking for the jam.

The jam was in the kitchen,
A few scant seconds ago.
I take a step to the sink,
Squishing jam between my toes.

I'd like to have more patience.
I really think I can.
I'll be in a better mood
When I can buy more jam....

Women smoke to stay thin.
Men can get bigger.
It is okay.
After their weddings they can balloon up.
Women will tolerate it.
But women better get thinner and thinner.
The commercial writers of SilvaThin knew this.
They spread the propaganda
And women bought in.
Wanting to be thinner
and thinner

Hitler : Alan Watts' Opinion
I
There was a time, when we sought comprehension
These days, power and media aim for control, commercialization

II
Alan Watts, once a native Anglican, became American Episcopalian
Left the ministry to teach Eastern philosophy, holistic education

III
Alan has left planet Earth (1970s), is beyond thought police, "mistake" -
Said, "One ought to get angry with someone like Hitler. But he's as natural as an earthquake."...

Shadow Town
SHADOW TOWN

A shadow town with only a past
Abandon hope all ye who cross
The black iron bridge over the smell of the Tyne
Tyres hiss on the wet road as they pass
And leave me here in the dark
Murky rain dirty roads
November in Gateshead
In the shadow of gloriously dirty Newcastle

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Note

Anyone who had the misfortune to live in Gateshead in
the 1970s will understand the feelings in this verse....

Premium Member The Heart Stops
and I'm flying
over fields of golden wheat
as if I've always known
how to use wings freed
by eternity's wind,
onward and onward
toward a light that is.

But,

the wall looms tall
and prevents me,
for even such wings as these
cannot attain that height,
and I fall
back into the beating heart
of a mortal man.

This poem was inspired by a near death experience my father had after a logging accident in the early 1970s...
