Self Restraint Poems | Examples

On humility

Defeat and failure grow people sad,
Neither cultivating humble instead
Humble, the core elements of humility
With self-restraint and obeying the reality

The pros and cons of oneself accepted
As well as other people's interests recognized
Humility contributing harmony to a community
While arrogance bringing in animosity

I have once been in a hierarchical situation
Where is full of ad lip ranks and disdain
I have been in the free countries with kin
Having been upholding fairness doctrines

The best I wise up, the less I clear
Of these If I ought to be humble, or despair

My Mornings
Miracle Man
8/7/2024

Some mornings I awake feeling void of delight,
and before many steps, my joints crackle and pop.
Far from existing thoughts are things beyond my sight,
I remind myself, life is but a whistle stop.

I live some day’s hearing two conflicting voices,
Satan will always give sin, a fresh coat of paint.
Eternal life awaits, I’m given two choices,
I go to Jesus in prayer for self restraint.

Most days I’m dealing with involuntary pain,
but I realize that through God I will prevail.
For there is a Hell to shun and Heaven to gain,
and to God, my services I'll always avail.

An Alliterative Pursuit Of A Lover

I will firstly frankly forwardly forthrightly fastidiously befriend you.
Then I will completely correctly courteously candidly chastely court you.
Then whencesoever I have wonderfully wackily warmly wooingly won wed you,
I’ll be free to laughingly longingly lustily lecherously lasciviously licentiously lengthily ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly
Gladly gently graciously gratefully gallantly grandly greatly love you forever.

Premium MemberPoetry Is Like Puzzles

Poetry is like puzzles or paint
coming together a bit at a time;
The design bold or sometimes faint;

Often requiring self restraint
it’s such a tall mountain to climb;
Poetry is like puzzles or paint;

Never interested in playing it straight;
From the softest pink to neon lime
the design bold or sometimes faint;

Prose like a picture must be traced,
blended with soul, rhythm, and rhyme;
Poetry is like puzzles or paint;

With this box of crayons you translate
your demons into something sublime;
The design bold or sometimes faint;

Imagination the fundamental trait,
like the base coat it will prime;
Poetry is like puzzles or paint,
the design bold or sometimes faint.

Premium MemberWe Dance

We dance with desire; we dance with dislike.
As human beings, we all are alike.
Flames of desire will always leap higher.
We dance with dislike; we dance with desire.

If desire is lust, we must slow the dance.
Slow to a stop; self-restraint give a chance!
Learn not to tango with what we can’t trust.
We must slow the dance if desire is lust.

We allemande right; we allemande left.
We must learn to move with steps that are deft
and dance for good things that bring great delight.
We allemande left; we allemande right.

While dancing each day, try moves that are new.
Practice through life how the spirit moves you.
Choose partners wisely with whom you will sway.
Try moves that are new while dancing each day.

Let dance stir the soul. Be moved by sweet grace.
Dance not with aversion. Smooth moves embrace!
The rhythm of body with spirit control.
Be moved by sweet grace. Let dance stir the soul.

Appaloosa, Mustang or Paint
Breeds to ride and love, breeds who ain’t
Broken by pain or heartbreak
But show them a rattlesnake
That horse won’t have much self-restraint

Premium MemberState of the Onion

It seems as dry as parchment on the outside.
It’s certainly no appetizing treat.
Although it’s sorta juicy on the inside,
The taste of it is anything but sweet.
It’s the state of the onion.
It’s no big surprise;
The state of the onion brings tears to my eyes.

I listened to a speech tonight on TV,
An exercise in patient self-restraint.
I wasn’t really sure just what the point was,
But ended up convinced of what it ain’t.
It’s the state of the onion.
It’s no big surprise
The state of the onion brings tears to my eyes.

Blessing In the Balance

Slowly, treading softly
I must guard my hesitant heart
Taking forward moves with caution
If any rebuilding is to start

I'm still wading wounded waters
Tidal waves of fear and doubt
Self-restraint and trust, a struggle
The gash was deep, still trickling out

Like a surfer prepares to meet the challenge
I still have roughened edges to smooth
And sturdy boundaries to set in place
For risk of further pain still looms

The waves of healing will ebb and flow
And unpredictable these endeavours may be
So too, I must master the skill to 'ride the ripple'
And find the blessing in the balance indeed

My Battle

I sensed your reservation
But you were too sweet to tell me so
Still I pressed on with my agenda
Oblivious of concern for you though

My faults and failures resurfaced
And once again, I feel remorse
Lately, it feels like a recurring battle
But the indiscretion's all mine, of course

It's not often I act impulsively
But at times, I react when I should pause
You see, with you, I have a weakness
Perhaps our connection is the cause?

I suppose the reason doesn't matter
The bottom line, I need more self restraint
I'm lucky you don't give up on me
When I struggle with boundaries in place

A Fool's Death

Drop after drop
my calm burns by the cold fireplace
like the rain on the glass, reminding
me of a taping dance.
Patience is the bastard son of virtue
running in short supply.
The wind is adding to the window's torment,
impatiently watching my sorrows
etched on my forehead.
I go out, drenching my haunting fears
adding to my quarantine torment.
Can't leave the house cause I have
a compromised immune system unallied
with my self-restraint.
Sky's clear now, water cleaner, the
bitter chill's definitely over.

Not wearing your mask, that's alright
we 'll fix you with something light-colored
to wear, good now lay your head back
and let me be clear, your fool's act
has cost you your life and now we're in the air.

Her Presence Still Lingers

The streetlights cast empty shadows,
Stretching across the roads of destiny.
The ghost of a time long past glows,
Echoing secrets long lost to me.
It’s now the time to rise,
Building up a structure so flawless.
The bitter man closes his eyes,
Succumbed to a world left lawless.
Though as he leaves another begins his birth.
He was the one that was running from self restraint.
He’s learning how to express self worth,
The perpetual depression now so faint.
If he doesn’t see you in the road,
He’ll search to the ends of the universe.
He’s shrugging off the empty load,
Finding the happiness, he begins to immerse.
He’s been to hell and back,
Longing to reach a heaven yearned.
The sorrow was once on attack,
But those bridges have been burned.
The timing slipping through fingers,
Though her presence still lingers.
Worlds apart, but the gap slowly diminishing.
Broken promises from the past long ago.
But the mans plan on finishing,
This redemption desecrates a lifetime of woe.
Someday my love will find you,
Someday the love will find us again.
I’ll be whole again, I promise you.
Starting with a gentle stroke of this pen.

A Shadow of the Former You

The paranoia you caused me triggered a change in my character my personality adapted to certain ways that weren't planned for and when challenged I latched on which created imbalancement with a chain reaction generating new clear embarrassment
Im channeling this energy you tried to erase taking the brace off the back that has carried it's weight
Im removing the scaffolding that's stood there in place establishing strength that stabalised the breakages we happened to face
While crafting our fate creating our demise manufacturing frames of mind causing brain damage and shakes and when I rewind it reminds me not get at it again I had some self restraint then when in that fragile state I backed away swearing I would never go back again
That's how I can stand here today explaining some issues because I love to hate you and f#**ing hate to miss you
Doesn't mean I wanna kiss you I ain't reconsidering distance because there isn't a chance of rekindling our spirits I'm just clearing up a few things like the source of interference after a years worth of disconnection because I don't wanna a see a fool in the mirror when I look at my reflection

My Cross

I hold my Cross I drop to my knees for self-restraint against the evil forces that often fly to sting like a bee trying to take my blessings away every day my prayers I recite so faithfully at times with tears in my eyes I find peace be still with in me and can go about my day protected and those I love as well in times of stormy weathers my savior walks on water he pulls me out and reassure me I am not alone I am guided and guarded my cross is my handling all of my transgressions within closed doors for he that truly sees me will deliver me into solid ground my worries are few since I put my trust in my heavenly father who will deliver me my cross is the glow that very few see glowing from a far I keep my prayers in a jar to pick each day and recite to help make right the wrong that brakes my strong my faith and prayers restore the chaos that comes to destroy the peace within to be still my cross is my shield from the invisible prince sibilities that come to devour gods children and steal our peace be still I take my cross where ever I go as my shield for peace will remain still amen

Road Rage

Do I threaten your aggression
By keeping calm and cool?
The more you flail your arms about
The more you play the fool!
I realize that self restraint
Is not your cup of tea
But it’s not fair that you don’t care -
Don’t take that out on me!
You seem to be a person
Who has to have their say
And selfishness becomes the norm
When things don’t go your way
Well here’s a bit of news for you
You’re not the only one
It’s give and take -
(For heaven's sake
Don’t ever get a gun!)
