Night on the Seine
Night on The Seine
1939
Silver and gold from city lights
daub the black river
like brush strokes from VanGogh.
The Seine
murmurs against La Rive Gauche
where dreams of artists linger,
then turns to glide obediently against La Rive Droite
where politicians drink cognac
and talk of war.
We are in the middle of Time
in a small boat.
“You cannot leave me!” she commands.
“Of course

In the shadow of dreams, where the Seine whispers secrets to the moon
In the shadow of dreams, where the Seine whispers secrets to the moon,
I wander the cobblestone veins of Paris, a city of illusions and sighs,
Where every corner hides a promise, and every promise, a lie dressed in silk.
Oh, Paris, siren of the night, your beauty is a mask that dances in the twilight,
A masquerade of

Paris la nuit
The Eiffel Tower stabbed at a midnight
as blue as an old Muddy Waters track.
From a distance, its lace-iron skeleton
looked like a slick and oily spider-web
crowned with a glittering neon diamond.
(My Grandmère's home is across the street from it).
“Do you want to go climb it?” I’d asked Peter (my bf).
“Naah,” he’d replied, “too crowded - what’s

The Bridge Sur Scene
Monet's brush strokes blend to show Argenteuil and Seine.
Monet, Renoir prized evoking faded light and scene
Told to Lilla Cabot, US artist "painting means slight around you,"
Frame a blue sib, a rose oblong, a fair line, and paint it as you view.

The Unknown Woman of the Seine
She.
Serenity’s relief adheres to alabaster sleep from the rivers own pale fruit.
There is majesty in the tides annihilation that polishes cheek and lip.
A smile as slight as sanctity anoints reflections saturated, ineffable.
Not even her amused sediment mask could locate her distant shore.
She.
A blink gives birth to locked gaze that gorges itself upon

Along the Seine
Along the Seine the artists paint
Scenes of a picturesque Paris,
While tourists stroll admiring
Flowers growing on an upper terrace.
The bridges along the river's course
Remember many a lover's sigh,
So, too, a boatman rowing slowly
Hoping to catch a maiden's eye.
He does not know the artist sees
His presence as a focal point, or,
That he will someday adorn a wall
Where

In Seine
The Seine river banks,
with their lack of guardrails, freaked
me out in fourth grade:
"Avez-vous entendu?!!"
My best friend rushed to ask it.
"Did you hear?! (the news)"
A woman drowned!!
She gushed - the horror tale
punch line delivered.
My eyes were wide with
shock and fear - the monster takes
another victim.
The dark Seine river
slithered, like a green snake
- feet from my front

Nd On the Seine
On the grandeur of the sprawling front garden
the Parisian sun rising on the sparkling Seine
casts designed shadow of the bygone centuries,
enshrined in the medieval cathedral, Notre Dame.
She stands witness of many a turning event
of French history and inspired many authors.
A unique icon of French Gothic architecture,
has place of pride in world heritage treasure.
The rows of

The Fishy Wish Seine
I had a wish, to catch some fish
But I never have had much luck
I bought a Seine called "Fishy Wish"
Why not, it was only a buck!
"Fishy Wish" seine did not impress
When my seine turned outside/in
This was an outside/in, seine mess
Where only the fish were to win!
Turns out the "Fishy Wish" seine store
Packed up and

Cool Light Breeze Across the Seine
On the stone whitebeige border of a bridge over the Seine,
she rests her two arms, her body leaning on her outer forearms;
the tearlet longlaced white ruffles on her longsleeved dark skyblue dress
fall in small tiered cascades from long somewhat full sleeves
