Along the Seine
Along the Seine the artists paint
Scenes of a picturesque Paris,
While tourists stroll admiring
Flowers growing on an upper terrace.
The bridges along the river's course
Remember many a lover's sigh,
So, too, a boatman rowing slowly
Hoping to catch a maiden's eye.
He does not know the artist sees
His presence as a focal point, or,
That he will someday adorn a wall
Where maiden wanted nothing more.
