my tan fantasy
melting cool but not cloying
sugar surrounds me
Sand promises ever shifting in the wind.
A word given; too easy to rescind.
How can we trust such a liar?
Is this a man to admire?
His minions kick sand in our eyes,
So his true self we don't recognize.
Evil has won out the day
But we can't let him have his way.
Now he's crossed a line in the sand.
It's time for Liberty to take a stand.

I forgot how to endure,
Having relied on external things.
Decades lost to troughs, filling anxious voids with nonsense thoughts.
I forgot that I am.
Forgot how I always was.
This night, I remember.
Free from tales imbued in me by lesser spells.
I invoke the Sandman now.
Coil your fortunes upon the Kundalini!
Free me from the tethers; the gated pasts unborn by the sheer of my will.
So I can ask, yet again: Do you want to see what happens to that which suffers and survives?
Face me, and I'll teach you yet again how reason works, and what it means not to be.
Each night as into sleep I go,
Oh, may my true love’s face I see.
Oh, Sandman, please do not be slow.
Each night as into sleep I go,
dust my eyes with a magic glow.
In sweet dreams may I with him be.
Each night as into sleep I go,
Oh, may my true love’s face I see.
Each night as into sleep I go,
Oh, Sandman, please do not be slow.
Dust my eyes with a magic glow.
In sweet dreams may I with him be.
Oh, may my true love’s face I see
and slumber steal my grief from me.
There’s a quiet time known as dusk
as the orbs of heaven pass
When departs from forest’s clearing
a pixie of a lass
A partner to the sandman
on babes she sprinkles dust
Though the sandman gets the credit
the pixie’s his brain-trust
First of all she ascertains
if an infant’s sleeping
Then softly through the nursery
to the crib she’s creeping
Preparing babies for her partner
with his iconic bag of sand
The enchanted dust this pixie sprinkles
wings infants' souls to fairyland
Sandman, sandman
Hold me tight
Help me go to
Sleep tonight
Saying zee, zee
Zee, zee
Zee, zee
Let me go to
Sleep dream free
Sandman, sandman
It’s alright
Help me go to
Sleep tonight
I’m fright, fright
Fright, fright
Fright, fright
Make sure you
Cut out the light
Whispers the sandman
sleep is nigh
Tuck away your day
one last kiss, then bye
Dim the lights
breathe a deep sigh
Now let me sing you
a soft lullaby
There is a new villain
New on the scene
Diabolical and willing
To be nasty mean green
She goes around stealing
Sleep hope good dreams
Makes nightmares chilling
Of Sandman's sweet dreams
The Sand Witch is who
I'm talking squawking about
She feeds your mind food
Turquoise thoughts so foul
Protect your maroon heart
Or she will rip the red out
She fears Jehovah God
Yet likes making you scream and shout.
Please mr sandman bring me some sleep
I have tried meditation and counting sheep.
I have drank coffee and hot chocolate to
So im asking you mr sand man what more can I do
I took a hot shower just to clear my head
But I'm still wide awake here in my bed
So mr sandman could you make it fast
So I can close my eyes and get some sleep
At last...
as the Sandman hovers above us
arm around you, bodies relaxed
electrical pulses from the brain surge
my body slips into a paralysis
everything is where it belongs
in the security of next to you
lies more than a reward for the day
i am far beyond mere satisfaction
i am floating in a placid being
waves gently guiding me
i leave with you on the Ameles potamos
the warmth of your kiss goodnight
upon my wedding ring
a ritual so among the beloved moments
you touch me with, fresh warmth at days end
that guides me to slumber
life could not have given me more than this
holding you as the Sandman hovers above
now i wish to hold you in my dreams
until morning brings to me
the dream i love the most
as the sun roars into existence
your lips pressed to mine

~sandman, how do you sleep at night?
When there's no sheep to count!

The Sandman tip-toes into the room
on that night when witches fly by on brooms
His task, alas, is daunting tonight
with ghosts affright, jack-o-lanterns alight
Yet tired trick-or-treaters soon enough
long for the comfort of their pillow's fluff
That's when the Sandman makes his move ~
tender eyelids grow heavy, magic touch again proved
When the Sandman’s near
I can almost hear
his soft footsteps breaking ground.
With his tender touch
my eyes feel so much
as he sprinkles sand around.
I don’t want to sleep
but I want to keep
all the dreams he has for me.
So I welcome sand
from his gentle hand
and I drift off peacefully.

Sleepy head, it's time for bed
For it is late indeed,
Time to meet the Sandman
And ride your favourite steed.
Your dreams can take you anywhere
As they weave their magic spell,
Tucked up nice and snug in bed
You can ride your carousel.
How wondrous the adventures
As you ride him through the night,
You, he, and all his friends
In joyous, dream filled flight.
The Sandman woke me up late last night.
I rocketed myself from the pillows.
Seeing him I groaned,
and slid back beneath the hood of blankets
He walked across the bedspread;
Knocked on my forehead with his cane.
With gritted teeth I sat up straight.
I explained his presence was not needed
“So Shooooo”
I set him at the foot of the bed and snuggled in my sheets.
He stubbornly stood up and made his way in my direction.
Stealthily climbing the pile of decorative pillows,
he rapped my nose.
Anger covering my face, I rose again.
I backhanded him across the floor!
He stood, shaking the loose sand off his coat;
still of one piece and just as mischievous as before.
I broke the night with my screech of rage!
I took Mr. Sandman in my hands
crunching him down to the dust he was.
I opened the bedroom window and blew him into the night.
Someone else’s problem now.
